Orange County is a great option as well, plus there's a nice statue of the man Mr. Wayne in the lobby.
I've flown into Orange County several times - never into LAX - so I can't speak for that airport too much, but the ease of use of the airport is great. Little lines and easy to get through.
Don't know how prices will compare to LAX though or other area airports. The mountains are calling, and I must go.

I fly to the LA area all the time and do everything I can to avoid LAX, it is a mess. Orange County is a very good option, but can be pricey at times, plus the flights tend to be mostly full, so the likelihood of cheap tickets this close to departure is slim. Long Beach is available, but I haven't flown in there in years (flights were getting limited the last time I did). Ontario would be another good option to explore. Sorry for no pricing info, but hopefully impressions of the options will help.“Confrontation simply means meeting the truth head-on.”

To me LAX is the best option, if price weren't an issue, b/c it isn't that far to downtown.
Burbank is another option. I think they still unload the plance from the front and rear right onto the tarmac, which is kind of cool. (The weather always being great)
