  • Preseason expectations go out the window when you get ranked in the top 20, also when you need to be EU for a title. The shox fell short, period.

    • I don't want to be like DJA, and debate over stupid trivial matters, and I won't on this. But what I said wasn't BS. I went back and watched the replay of the collision on ESPN3. It was just as I said. The two Wichita State players collided with each other, the ball ends up with Grant Gibbs who shoots and misses. On the try for the rebound, you see Hall pull Gibbs down and the crowd boos. It gets silent momentarily and then you see Marshall arguing with the officials and the boos get very loud. When Marshall turns from the officials and goes to help his players, the crowd quiets. When they get up, you hear the applause and the announcers point out it was classy to applaud them. Anyone can watch it, it is roughly at the 6:00 mark. Time was called at the 5:55 mark. You see and hear everything.

Here is my level headed, summation. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, possibly, millions of reasons for Shocker fans to hate Bluejay fans. Wichita State and Creighton played today and Wichita State came out on the short end. That is one more reason for Shockers to hate Bluejays. I understand fans being upset, but I think the emotion has clouded what really happened. Like I said, there are plenty of reasons to hate, this isn't one of them.

As for Marshall, like I said earlier, I don't know what his beef was, if it was an over and back call, maybe he was right. Right or wrong, any coach from any team is going to get booed if they run on an opponents court and argue with an official. The same would happen at Wichita State and the same would happen at Duke, North Dakota, a high school game or a juco. As for anything a student may or may not have said, well, they're students. Anything they may or may not have said I don't know, but they would be students. I know that nobody, absolutely nobody said anything like that anywhere near me. I would have shut them up. Personally, I have three nephews playing D-1 sports at three different Valley schools. I have an older brother and two sisters that played D-1 sports when I was growing up. Knowing athletes at this level, first hand, and seeing two nephews compete against each other in the same sport has tempered a lot, or mostly all of the hatred and anger I have for any college athlete. I don't care what team a kid plays for, I don't want anyone to get hurt. Yes, I would have shut anyone up that said anything about any of the players lying on the court.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Not true in the upper bowl.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Comparing us to the bottom of the at-large contenders, we have a slightly higher RPI, worse SOS, and better record against the top 100. We just can't get any more losses to teams not in the top 100.
I would like for us to win at least 5 games in a row, preferably 9. I propose you re-institute the self-ban that you put in place following the SIU loss. As I'm sure you are aware, that self-ban was followed with a 5 game winning streak. Your return to Shockernet has resulted in another losing streak. Yes, I am superstitious. Do it, CBB. For the good of the Shockers and the health of Shockernetter's everywhere.

I got sick of the bullshit. Not here, but on all of the other boards. I have work to do and don't have much time, so I said screw it. Maybe I'll be on the off topic forum here in a couple of months, I don't know. The problem is, if I read Shockernet, then I end up looking at the other boards and just get pissed at the stupidity, so I've been staying off of here, too. I was at the game today, so I decided to look at fan reaction. Maybe a bad idea. I don't know. I don't want to become another CaseyGarrisonForPresident, err, LuskingforGuttin on this board. Maybe I should just quietly backpeddle out and slowly close the door.

            • I am glad Tekele lit CU up from 3 today. That must have felt good (a double digit loss considered) after the sagging off him in his 0-10 performance in Wichita.

If my calculations are correct, Tekele has his 3PT% up to around 35%. His improved shooting has been a real positive over the last number of weeks.

You'll never be a Casey. He's an idiot and you are far from it.

Creighton is the No. 1 seed in the Valley Tournament and @Kung Wu: is the No. 1 seed in the ShockerNet pick 'em contest.

Are you sure you havn't sold your soul to the devil? Have you been to Georgia lately?

Please don't tell me you will be changing your screen name to Kung Blu. :wink-new:

In truth, I'm thinking this is all part of your master plan to insure the Shockers win for the 1st time in St. Louis.
I like our chances!! If we can find HALF of that mojo we found when the NIT fired up a few years ago, this could be an amazing ride. Question is, can we? And will it happen BEFORE the conference tournament or after?

                      • It took an all-time best FG% for Creighton against Wichita State just for them to win at home by 12. We matched them in 2-pt FGs made at 22. We matched them in FTs made at 14. We even matched them in 3-pt FG attempts. The 12 point margin of victory in the game was because they made 4 more 3's out of their 21 attempts than we did.

If someone came up to you before the game and said WSU and Creighton would make the same number of two point shots and free throws and attempt the same number of threes, you'd expect WSU to lose by 12.

                          • 'shockers were outrebounded (for only the third time this season) 24-21. there's your three posessions.

also not buying into 'creighton would have beaten indiana tonight' either.

I'm not so sure that why fans were booing is any less trivial than conference titles won, but whatever. I also didn't debate anybody here - two whole posts, the second of which was made while the OP was editing his first or it wouldn't have been made at all.
