Wow what a game. I too was totally pissed that we had to foul before they stopped play to review, and they got 2 free throws from that foul on the kick that was really HUGE. Interesting point about the VCU game and a similar situation possibly getting Marshall thinking about doing the same thing. I thought he was going to get T'd up when they called the foul on MA. I'm still amazed that the ref didn't make a call when the contact happened. Karma worked its way out on this I guess.

I just dont understand how a whistle wasnt blown right then and there.

It looks like he was screened from view by the IL St player. You see the ref trying to look around as the play happened.

I might also like a video of cle burying a trey for the win and 'chalking it up' like it was just another day at the office...shooting a completely guarded game on the line three.

Look again...there is nothing in his way but his poor eye sight. The ISU player in the way was JC kicking TC.

We didn't deserve to win this one but I'll take it...

I think by rule if you are on the road and you have more points than your opponents when the clock read 0.0, then you do deserve it.

On Redbirdfan.net and their fans are still finding a way to piss and moan after Carmichael INTENTIONALLY KICKED COTTON IN THE CHEST (couldn't tell if he got him in the head or not). It's laughable at best.

If we can't win pretty, we will dazzle them to sleep with brilliance? Yikes!!! What a win that was and we reallly needed it!!! We were behind almost all night long but Early is never late.

A few things I can't get over:

* What you accept in victory, you must also accept in defeat. Here's hoping our guys can improve on what was a garbage start.

* Illinois State went 30-33 from the line. At home. And lost.

* Perhaps the most grim point in the game was at the 13:30 mark - IlSt just went on a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 11. HCGM took a timeout to regroup. From that point forward, the Shox outscored the Redbirds 41-29 to pull it out. Here's the stat-lines from that point forward for the Shox:

He was about 5 seconds early. I could have done without that last possession :)

The best argument that Illinois State fans apparently can come up with is a rule that only flagrant 2 calls can be reviewed later if there was not initial foul called, which, if true, just goes to prove what Marshall said about them being lucky that the flagrant 2 and subsequent ejection weren't given.

I generally have had respect for the Illinois State fanbase, but their series of post arguing that "sure our player intentionally kicked an opponent, but we believe he should have been allowed to get away with it" has lowered my estimation of that fanbase in my eyes. The only reasonable reaction to that play as a fan is to be angry at Charmichael for doing something so incredibly stupid and unecessary.

EDIT: Now one of their fans has posted the gif that is on this thread, and the only thing he can take away from it is that the official was right there to look at it, so the fact that he didn't call it must have meant that there wasn't much there. How stupid can you be to see that gif and think that it is a reasonable basketball play (and that goes for both the ref and ISU poster)?

It should have been a flagrant 2, the refs were just trying to let ISU off the hook.
