If it's based on this game, there' not much doubt.

      FVV 5/10 - 2/4 from 3
      Wiggins: 2/9 and 0/4

      FVV 9 assists, 1 TO
      Wiggins 0 assists, 2 TO's

Marshall told us and the posters from Rockford told us about FVV. There was a lot of speculation that there would be no way to not start FVV sometime - probably around 2/3 of the way through the season. That seems to be pretty accurate.

FVV is obviously a pass-first PG - and he had 17 points! 3 offensive boards and a total of 5 boards. He's probably among the better BBIQ guys Marshall can put on the floor.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

        • Here is what was huge. Mr. Simon entered the Valley of Cotton--look away--look away--he was on Simon like a cheap suit. We started out stagnet but played the D and rebounded like rock stars. Then we had some flurries as FreshVV had the 17 points and 9 assists and 1 turnover. The only reason he did not have 10 plus assists was we missed some chip shots or was fouled on some great passes he made. No Jake--No Jake sightings between the lines tonight.

Before D-Will was hurt, I was thinking just how much he could help us the Season. Get well soon young man. We were so deep early this Season and now we are getting thin. Nice win Shocks. We will take it.

          • Fred has been making strides. Tonight, he made a leap.
So we beat them by 15, down a player, AGAIN. Of course, this team has to be pretty used to that by now.
Seems like the ball was sticky again the first 8 minutes, then we started moving it and good things happened. Got sticky again for awhile in the 2nd half.
Malcolm, you've got to be ready to play when you come in.
By the way Malcolm, that was a timely 3 you made when we desparately needed to score.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

9 assists! I'm assuming that's a season high for any Shocker. FVV is the only guard on the team who has a clue how to beat the zone. This was a special game for Fred and he's picking it up at the right time. He's had several good games in a row now.

                • Speaking of FreshVV, he was playing like tonight at times this summer. Then he got hurt. Now, I love him being in the game, understanding that our future is bright and he can also help us in the 'here and now' baybay. Can u dig that grooovy graaavy tonight? Thanks N. Iowa. Now it is nitty gritty time for our Shockers. We have the best team but we have to prove that, one game at a time.

                  • its so early in his career but fred has such a huge upside. He could become the best ball handler/distributor we've had in 20+ years.

                    • I was enjoying FVV's performance so much tonight that I didn't even realize Demetric was injured.

I swear I did not realize that he was not playing until after the game was over. I did not know he was hurt and I sure did not miss him. He average one turnover for every 2.33 minutes of play for a total of 3 turnovers in 7 minutes of play.

As much as I hate SIU beating us ... at least they're playing well right now. I'd be more angry if that was just a one-off awful performance by us, but they actually look like a good team right now. Win over Evansville, one point loss to Indiana State on the road. At least it isn't as bad of a loss now.

And man we have a huge stretch of games coming up. I really hope we were having a full-on bone-headed streak that is past now, and it wasn't just indicative of us not being able to play on the road (4 of 5 losses on the road), because we've got three of our toughest games this season all on the road in our next five games.

We took care of the two bottom feeders, but Indiana State and Illinois State are going to be tough. And Creighton will no doubt get their mojo back in time for us. And that's even kind of over-looking Evansville.

No question Fred was tonight's player of the game, but I put up Tekele Cotton as a strong nominee for best supporting actor.

                              • We need for our Seniors to finish strong and lead us and FreshVV and Wiggy are still coming along quite well and are far from done. Hall fought and clawed for some bounds and points. Cle was off on his shot but yet played strong in several other areas for us. It is so nice to have Cotton who can guard a 6'8" sharpshooter and keep his outputs to a mild roar.
