He probably hits half of them all day every day in front of Marshall, too.

If the law of averages applies, jake is about to take us through the last games of the season with some seriously hot shooting.

I sure hope so. I would love to see the jake question die by him hulking out and being the reason we win a big game.

I don't buy the argument Jake was a fallback recruit. There is no evidence to indicate that. Not every player on a roster is going to fit the coach's ideal mold. While Jake has struggled in a few areas, I've yet to see someone who can collect as many rebounds per minute or get as many open shots in Marshall's system as Jake does. Once his defense improves and he starts getting consistent minutes, he's going to have some very, very good games. His shot will come around and recent indications point to that already happening. Jake is on pace to be Cle's primary backup next season, and then the starting 4-man when he's a senior.

That's if Cle is starting at the 4. The objective is to get him on the wing and he has to work on that part of his game. The roster may dictate that he has to play some or mostly the 4, but time will tell. If we take him out of the 4 rotation, we're left with 4 guys to play the 4/5. That COULD be doable depending on how ready they are. I get the feeling that Coleby and Watson will be fine. I have faith in White. Outisde of those three, it would come down to Shaq being able to contribute 10-15 minutes as a FR. That wouldn't have to take Cle completely away from the 4, but could give him more minutes on the wing.

He no doubt has a lot of work to do in the offseason working on his handles either way.

I suspect that Jake's shooting slump was due to playing too tight. It was very clear he loosened up last game and was NAILS in the shooting department. If he plays with that loose attitude on offense, but tightens up a little on defense (to prevent fouling), then I think he'll be on top of his game.

This is just my gut feeling, but I don't think Marshall is having Cle learn the 3 to be the starter there next season, but to be able to have him play there if needed and round out his game for the NBA. I think Wiggins and Wessel will hold down the 3 for the most part next year.

Good point. He dominates when games are not in question. Goes along with the loosening up thing. Now if he cod just loosen up all the time.

Also I wonder if the law of averages applies not only to shooting percentage, but also to charge taking :)

Oops. I forgot CJ on the list. So we'd have 5 options for the 4/5 without Cle.

And Royal could be correct about Cle being mostly a 4 with some 3 next season. Still, the depth chart looks alright

PG - FVV, Baker, Bowles, Holland
SG - Baker, Wiggins, Cotton, Holland
SF - Cle, Wiggins, Wessel, Cotton, Green
PF - Cle, White, Watson, Green
C - Coleby, Lufile, Watson, Shaq

Not in any particular order, but we have options at each position. I think PG could be the biggest concern just because we have a couple of FR coming in and you'd think one of them, at least, is going to have to play. Baker is capable until one or both are ready. Also of possible concern is the fact that we're sitting at 14 'ships...

And regardless of who plays where, I expect Cle and Jake to have good seasons.

I have a different take on HCGM using different lineups and it wasn't to see how they would play next year,
I have a feeling he just wanted to win this game.

WSU has a transfer center sitting out this year, and Earl Watson is on his way From Chpola Juco.
My guess is Mr. Watson didn't sign with WSU to sit on the bench for two years and not start.

No offense to Mr. White, but if he's our starting 4-man in two years, either HCGM has taken a step back on his current recruiting trend or JW grew into an athletic beast - neither of which I see a great chance of happening. I fully expect more Cleanthony Early's in HCGM's future.

Are you saying we will be over one scholarship for next year unless somebody leaves this year or somebody we've signed for next year doesn't show up? If that's the case Mr. Lufile and Mr. White better right the ship or risk "changing their mind" about wanting to play for the Shockers next year.

I love how HCGM recruits! There's always pressure on the players to perform. There's no free lunch at WSU. HCGM's economics background shines through brightly!

Mr. Watson signed with WSU to be a part of a winning program, whether that means starting or coming off the bench. Sometimes many of us, including me on occasion, get caught up in starting. Hell, Cle has spent many games coming off the bench. Who cares...it's about winning.

Watson is in a 2-3 week slump at Chipola. And Uchebo isn't even back yet. The trend isn't looking good for him. He's fouling a lot and missing shots. Though he does appear to at least be rebounding fairly well given his minutes, which are down to around 14 per game.

I'm not saying anything. Just stating that we are one over and something will happen or be done to get it to 13.

There's always the chance that one of the players will pay their own way for a year. Who that could be, I have no idea.
