Nobody can top Panther fans and their vaunted schedule that will still carry them to a bid. They're winning 10 in a row and regardless of RPI, they'll be there on Selection Sunday.

I don't expect this to be a cakewalk.

Hey guys! I haven't posted on here since last year when your guys dismantled us at Arch Madness. Just thought I'd surf on over and join your discussion. I don't know what people have against WSU fans, I've always felt welcome here. Of course, I'm not stupid enough to mosey over here and predict that we're going to win by 20 in Koch...:very_drunk:

Anyway, I don't see any way we win tomorrow night. As with a typical Greg Marshall team, the Sycamores really don't match up well with you - too much athleticism, too much discipline. That's one thing I don't ever see people give your team credit for, and I don't know why. You guys play basketball the way it is supposed to be played (IMHO), and it's quite fun to watch most of the time (unless you're in the process of beating a certain Tree-themed team by 30...).

Our guys are in their typical January slump. This year it hasn't been as bad as in years past, but we aren't exactly playing our best ball right now. Odum only shows up about half the time, and frankly, if he would be aggressive the entire game, he'd make us far more difficult to play. Arop is the wild card. If he gets going early, look out. He can score in a lot of different ways - he's fun to watch! Our inside game is getting better but really shouldn't be any match for yours.

The good thing about our team, and this was highlighted in an earlier post, is that we have no seniors. Next year could really be fun for us. But this year is all about building. I really didn't expect to be 6-3 at the turn, so I'm happy.

My prediction for tomorrow night is this - it's a game for 30 minutes. Shockers pull away in the last ten to win by 15. But the overall game will have been much closer than the final score will indicate.

        Shockers - 78
        Sycamores - 63

Solid post. Thanks. And welcome to ShockerNet.

I'll remind you that you guys beat Miami and Ole Miss and took UNM down the wire. You've played six teams that have been ranked at some point this season, you're battle tested and we won't intimidate you. Your team has a lot of respect from this particular Shocker. Like I said in my prediction, I don't anticipate this game being a cakewalk.

Thanks for dropping by--I'll always welcome respectful fans of other schools.

I'm in the close game camp on this one. WSUs biggest advantage is going to be in the post, and the guards still have a reluctance to go there. I think WSU will get the job done but I'm expecting a game Indy St team to make it interesting. Then again, I thought Bradley would keep it respectable.

Tekele is our stopper, no doubt about it, and I agree he'll probably get a large dose of Odum on our defensive end. But I have a feeling Odum will draw Malcolm on our offensive end. The question I suppose is, "can Odum be worn out?" If he's got Toure's endurance then he can probably go the distance with both of those guys, but short of that Tekele will grind him down with defense while Malcolm, DWill and FVV keep him in constant motion with offense. This might be one of those games that stays neck and neck until the last 5 minutes.

First of all, I hope most fans of WSU's opponents pick their team to win. I love true fan commitment without idiocy. Upsets happen, and the Valley is awash with examples over the years of unexpected results. Heavens, there have been people almost banned on shockernet for picking against the Shockers this year. Prediction:
                    Shocks 75
                    Trees 68

No doubt the Trees are a scary team when they're on. They've beaten the 14th and 16th ranked teams in the country. They will be a formidable opponent. They've played close in Koch the last couple of years. They aren't gonna be that intimidated.

I hope the Shox realize this is a team that is nipping at their heels and puts the hurt on them to keep em at bay. Stay focused and execute Shocker basketball and I like our chances.

Of course, their win again Miami was when Miami's big man, Reggie Johnson, was out. That would be similar to them beating us with Carl Hall out, except I think we'd still beat them.

WSU opens as a 12.5 pt favorite. Higher than I expected.
