Wiggins will benefit,too,big-time, with Kerry this off season. Coach called him out in the "open" practice, after having the ball stripped while holding it with two hands below the wiast outside the 3-pt line: "Son, maybe you shouldn't have skipped the voluntary weight room sessions." It really shows when he streaks to the basket and can't get a shot up towards the rim. The weight room will increase his driving ability ten-fold, just hope it doesn't ruin his shooting touch.

Malcom did get MVP with Channel 22 and White got MVP on KNSS. Malcom had around 10 points with 8 assists. FreshVV came in and added 5 more assists which resulted in a 1-2 punch from our pg position.

Because we're so likely to get the benefit of the doubt in the polls? You realize that at 19-2 we've spent a combined three weeks ranked this season, right?

If we're ranked worse than #16, I'll be angry. That means a team will have to jump us (of which Miami certainly could, but absolutely should not ... very likely the dominating win over Duke gets them a massive over-rating in the polls, though), or one of the four teams in front of us that should absolutely fall behind us didn't: VCU (2 losses this week), Creighton (second straight loss), UNLV (scored 34 points or so against unranked team in loss), or Minnesota (two losses this week, four straight). Also Cincinnati in the Coach's Poll, who lost this week.

Now I'd also argue that we could jump NC State (should), Kansas State (should), Butler (probably won't), Louisville (probably won't), and Michigan State if they lose to Indiana tomorrow night (maybe), but I'm not expecting pollsters to give us much of a break now, based on the fact that they haven't this entire season. I don't think there is any reason to believe we could be ranked higher than any other team.

Optimistic ranking would be #12. Conservative #16.

Well aware of all the facts you cite to, including the ones you got wrong (UNLV = / = New Mexico). You're just not giving credence to how poorly the teams in front of us played this week.

Teams that may leapfrog us:

#25 Miami (won vs. #1 Duke 90-63, vs. FSU 1/27 6 PM)

Teams that we will jump:

#19 VCU (lost @ Richmond, lost vs. LaSalle)
#18 NCSU (lost @ Wake Forest, won vs. UNC)
#17 Creighton (lost @ Drake, vs. SIU 1/27)
#15 New Mexico (won vs. Colorado State, lost @ SDSU)
#12 Minnesota (lost @ Northwestern, lost @ Wisconsin)
#11 Kansas State (lost vs. #3 Kansas, lost @ Iowa State)



That puts us at #15 if Miami jumps ahead of us, #14 if they don't. However, there are more teams that we may or may not move ahead of:

#5 Louisville (lost @ Villanova, lost @ Georgetown)
#9 Butler (lost @ LaSalle, won vs. Temple)
#13 Michigan State (won @ Wisconsin, @ #7 Indiana 1/27 1 PM)


Looks like worst case scenario is that we will be #15 on Monday. If we are worse than that, I will concede that a conspiracy exists.

Pass for sure: VCU, CU

Probably Pass: NC St, Minn. Since the Polls are a fashion show, Minnesota losing 4 in a row is a killer, however, losing at Indiana and Wisconsin were mostly likely to happen and losing to Michigan at home not unexpected. Northwestern game hurt. Their current and forecasted RPI is still higher than the Shocks along with having a SOS in the top 6.

50/50 or less to Pass: New Mexico, K St, Louisville, Butler. First, I think K St is overrated, but losing to KU didn't hurt them at all and they were actually underdogs at Iowa St (note, I think we should be ahead of them, just might not happen). New Mexico was not the favorite to win at SDSU and this probably hurt them very little. They are well ahead of us in RPI and, like MN, have a SOS that is in the top 6 both current and projected. Again, being a fashion show, how far Louisville's two road losses hurt them is a real question...50/50. Butler's road loss to a good LaSalle team (they also beat VCU this week) probably shows up worse in a fashion show, just not bad enough for us to pass them.

Pass Us: Miami. After all, the did beat #1 Duke and were ranked, even if barely. Add to this, their current RPI is #3, SOS #1.

Beating Bradley and MSU doesn't help you leapfrog in the polls. Your suppose to win those games. Beat IN St next week is a lot more meaningful.

My guess, #17 or 18.

Edit: I'd rather be pleasantly surprised being ranked higher than PO'd at the Polls I give marginal credit to.

Just read all of this. I wasn't able to listen to or watch the game. I will try to grab the replay on ESPN3. Was this pretty much "scrub" time in the last 10 minutes? I know we don't have scrubs lime other teams have.

This is something very common that Mike does. His POG is the guy they most want to talk with and they try to spread that around as much as possible so that the fans get to hear from as many of the guys as possible during a season. So they will take an opportunity like last night to catch a young man they have not interviewed. I like that they do that. Most fans understand that's the deal and also have a good feel which players had the most impact on a game. I'm surprised this is even a topic since this has been Mike's approach for many years now.

Last night, there were no clear cut, no doubt choices. It's a good time to spread it around.
