Why go out and patronize these places when they can't even support the coach's show.
I will stay home from now on. Screw em!

Depends on which degree. I have my masters in Aero, and in my opinion the electrical department is also strong.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Social engineering from Mel Kahn in the Poly Sci department another option.

              :)

I agreed about pretty much nothing politically with Mel, but man he is a good teacher and a good guy.

Dittos on Kahn. Good teacher and guy. Is he still teaching? I digress... I worked at a bar that sponsored the coach's show and we never got any bump from it. It isn't a format that lends itself to the environment.

I do believe WSU is well regarded in engineering, especially (although not exclusively) aeronautical engineering.

Definitely for Aerospace. NIAR is the largest research institute of its type in the US. I know that electrical is fairly strong as well, and various other programs are solid.

All I can guess is that something about the timing of the old sponsor dropping or the cost of sponsoring it or the knowledge that the show was on the market was messed up somehow.

I have a hard time believing there are no businesses that would have done it if it were a widely known and affordable thing.

We have too good of a fan base for that. But then, what do I know...

BGM sets the $$ for everything involving Kennedy. The announcers (Kennedy, Dahl, and Hull) sell the dvertising - that's how they get paid.

So, if Kennedy can't sell a Coach's show for a top-20 national coach, then BGM must have set the sponsorship fee to somethig totally outrageous. That could be why WSU has packaged the media marketing to a different source next year.

Kennedy is a great play-by-play guy, but his interests and the interests of the WSU Athletic Department aren't the same. Kennedy makes a HUGE living off of selling advertising to WSU athletics. Some of that money may be money that Kennedy gets that the athletic department might get under an arms-length negotition.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Just to set the record straight, BGM has a contract with Entercom to provide airtime for all Shocker broadcasts on their various stations. In that contract, Entercom retains the right to sell the location for the basketball Coaches shows. Entercom sets the rate for what they want to charge for the location sponsorship, not BGM. BGM sells all of the inventory in the coaches shows.

Mike Kennedy is paid a fee per game and, in addition, has a very limited amount of inventory that he may sell and keep the revenues as additional compensation. Judge Dahl only receives a stipend for doing the home games and Bob Hull receives a stipend and travel day expenses reimbursement for his road games.

Mr. Kennedy does not in any way make a "huge" living. He is fairly compensated for the duties he performs, but I'd hardly call what he makes "huge".

As for the University seeking a different media marketing source for next year, you would have to ask them their reasons why they would do that.

Aargh, you are one of the few posters on here that I actually give some credibility as to your opinions. In this case, though, you are way off the mark.
