Watch Gibbs run the court without the ball then watch him somehow get past people on the dribble consistently...blows my mind.

He is some odd combo of D-baggery, toughness, and court smarts. Very odd bird indeed but he wins and if he were a shocker I would be a fan.

Eventually he passed off. I thought it was just plain weird. For the season, he is shooting 43% and 51% from 3.
I had the exact same reaction to that play. I don't know why he didn't shoot. Maybe the Ghost of Ben Smith Past haunted him right at that moment, and he was frozen in fear?

Hmmm. He looked more like a Northern Iowa player to me. Not sure I could get excited about him on the Shox.

        • Shooting can desert a team but it will come back. Both CU and WSU did not shoot well. CU will not be able to LEARN how to box out and be aggressive to the ball before the next game this is something you have to have the inclination to do. The Shocks WANT it more. Next match up the nod goes to the Shocks. Sorry we couldn't get to the game but the wife was having some balance issues that seem alot better today. Gave the tickets to my son and grandson and they had a GREAT time. My son said it was one of the highlights of spending time with his son. When he said that I was reminded of when my dad took me to see some the the Dave Stallworth era games and how great those times were. So even though we couldn't make it yesterday I was glad that this will be a great memory to share together. Our crowd looked great and sounded great. The chants were uber loud and sounded like the WHOLE house was going nuts. Didn't see people heading towards the exits very early either. A sidenote: I was told that ADES grabbed 3G after the game and told him the student section wanted to congratulate him and escorted him down there where he acknowleged their contribution as well. I am glad the seating doesn't allow for storming the court. On TV it looks like we have been there before as many of our Jay friends are quick to point out that we are so classless. But really what do they know.

            • Still upset that we can stop the game cause fatty got too much gut-sweat on the ball, but not when a player is on the floor at the other end.

I don't think anyone here would deny that it's a big game. The funny thing, you see, is watching sCUm fans deny the rivalry, or the importance of the game (s). Even when you have local beat writers, former players, and current coaches talking about it being a huge rivalry and a huge game for you.

And considering some of the signage caught by ESPN cameras at last year's beat down, I wouldn't really go there either.

That's so ironic and sooooooooo funny at the same time. Classic!

They seem to believe that their shooting today was an aberration, but don't really feel like our shooting was out of the ordinary despite it being significantly worse. I don't think they realize how much Baker will help us on offense or how much better we can shoot FTs and 3s. Personally, I think the Shockers will shoot much better @ Creighton, and we'll see whether Creighton will improve as well.

Regardless, I don't think Creighton wins if we are allowed to play physical. We probably won't get that luxury, but if we do I feel like we can out-physical any team in the country. I'm hoping we can eventually run a small line-up of Armstead/Baker/Cotton/Early/Hall and a big line-up of Armstead/Cotton/Early/Hall/Orukpe, so Creighton won't even be able to game-plan for the same line-ups they played against today.
Not that it guarantees anything, but CU fans would be wise to look at what happened last year with an early seasn game in Wichita and late season game in Omaha.

                        In Wichita:
FG Percentage 3-Point Percentage Freethrow Percentage
                        Creighton 42.6% 53.3% 77.8%
                        Wichita State 33.3% 19.2% 72.0%
Rebound Margin - Wichita State +2
Margin of Victory - Creighton +7

                        In Omaha:
FG Percentage 3-Point Percentage Freethrow Percentage
                        Creighton 40.4% 21.7% 77.3%
                        Wichita State 58.2% 50.0% 100%
                        Rebound Margin: Wichita State +14
Margin of Victory - Wichita State +21

Moral of the Story? Either team can shoot well at either team's facility, but CU has far less margin for winning when they aren't shooting well.

I will now refer to the game in Omaha as the Groupon Bowl.
