  • I liked the white paper idea from the students. I hadn't seen that before either.

Now, how do we get the people at the other end to do something. Maybe it should be determined what few rows would actually affect the shooters the most and something should be passed out. Many schools have student sections on both ends, so that helps in this department. The next question would be if the people on the other end would actually participate?

It would be worth a try. Anything that can be done to further our already awesome home court advantage would only add to the atmosphere.

    • On the clock issue. RDR took care of it, but had that not been the issue, the shot clock doesn't run in tenths. However, it isn't expired until the buzzer sounds. Had it been showing zero, when the question arose, I am guessing that it would have been ruled expired. They have no way of knowing how much was left on it had it been showing zero. That is my take and we can break it down all that we want, but the call happened and we all have to move on. It didn't affect the outcome and WSU is on top of the Valley once again.

      All is good.

In HS, the rule is, if the horn hasn't sounded, there's still time on the clock. Most clocks have tenths of a second but not all do. Especially in gyms used for FR/JV games. What sucks is you don't know if there's .9 or .1 and that's a big difference on what is allowed to get a shot off.

        • Here is a change of subject in the form of a question as follows:

In the last 4:48 minutes of the game, how many points did the Blue Birds score and how many points did the Shockers score?

The answer is quite interesting. At least it is to me.

Wasn't it about 6 points each? It wasn't very many.

THE PLAYER OF THE DECADE in those 4:48 had 2 points, went 1-2 from the field, 0-1 from 3pt, had 2 Turn Overs and 1 Defensive rebound from a missed free throw.

                WSU missed 6 free throws.

All-American though. POY by most accounts too. He doesn't like to get D'd up.

You know as well as I do his 25 points came with pretty good defense on him. Say what you want about him...that sCUm has some OFFENSIVE game this conference hasn't seen in some time.

I know he does. But WSU gives him fits that most teams don't due to the level of D played by them.

                        • WSU did anoutstanding job defensively on SoW. And he still got 25, but he worked for them and we denied him the ball at crucial times. Surprisingly to me, at least, because I admired TC's defense on SoW, SoW was 3 of 4 vs TC; 6 of 9 vs CH and 1 of 4vs Cle. in addition, there were two misses from garbage time.

In Omaha, I hope we can go more with Early on SoW and have TC drape Gibbs. CH can play etch-a-sketch or Raggie. We MUST control Gibbs better in Omahabecause it is not likely that CU will miss so many FTs there.

Also note that those 2 points were scored 5-4 with Early on the floor at the other end.

                            • It's also not likely that we shoot nearly as poorly as we did from everywhere. Plus, we'll have Baker back and that makes us better than we are now. No doubt we still have to bring it, but I like the way we look right now.

                              • What if

What if the BJs shot the same number of attempts at their normal (average) percentage for the game? They would have scored 4.74 more 2-pt FG; 1.08 more 3-pt FG and 2.85 more FTs. That would result in 15.57 pts, making their total 64+15.57 = 69.57 or 10.03 below their average ppg.

The Shockers, on the other hand, would have had 2.03 more 2-pt FG; 3.77 more 3-pt FG and 4.05 more FTs, for a increase in score of 19.42. That would have put WSU at 86.42, or 15.52 over their season norm. And a 16.85 margin of victory.
