mark adams (espn2 color commentary) intimated that if the game came down to a chess match, cu had the advantage, as if they were the better coached team. tsk tsk
shocker shooting (field-goal and free-throw) was an eye-sore, but wichita state still pulls out the win. let's face it- gregg marshall is the best coach in the valley. nothing against mcdermott, a good coach who owned turgeon regularly, but marshall is the mvc man these days.
you just wait- shaka smart, love him or hate him, was right- wichita state will be a load come february.
They were playing behind, THE WHOLE GAME! Yeah, it was 3 or 4, but it was 3 or 4 for damn near the entire game.
We were the better team. They did what they do, we did what we do. If we do the exact same thing in Omaha, and hit just a fraction more shots, we will beat them by 10.

What is Creighton without Doug though? It's not a fair argument to say Coach McDermott had to recruit his own son.

This completely sells short the effort of your fans - how much was that worth on the scoreboard? Plus, we will be in front of our fans shooting at our hoops.
It'll take more than a couple more made baskets to offset both of those aspects.

You did better in Wichita last year, why should this year be any different?

crap shooting from the floor and the free-throw line is what we got. fans were good though- as mostly usual.
maybe not the shockers best game, but february (about two more weeks) will tell the tale. early is learning big game by big game. 'shocker offense should improve (still seeing offensive mix-ups that weren't there last regular season) quite a bit (and it will).
How about Wiggins draining an early 3 and runs back down the court blowing kisses in the midst of all the pandemonium. Dude cracked me up!!!
EDIT: After further review watching the game on the DVR I guess he was throwing up the "eye goggles". That's what happens when you don't pay enough to SASO and have to sit 30 rows up.:tears_of_joy: Still made me laugh though.
It was fantastic to see the Refs ignore Smurky Smurf and all his antics (flops, exaggerated contact, etc.). Way to bring it Shocker Nation!!

Not really, another -- I went back after the game and listened to the ESPN broadcast, and one of the things I heard from their crew was the opinion that at this point Gregg Marshall is national coach of the year. So it isn't plausible to suggest that he thought Creighton was better coached -- what he was more likely saying was that if it came down to a chess match, the Blueboys had better PIECES.
Not today, though, even though our pieces couldn't shoot. As others have noted, if just Hall shoots something resembling his normal FT percentage the last two minutes -- no other changes, just that one -- the ending isn't nearly as nerve-wracking.

Maybe. There's no way we shoot the ball worse than we did tonight, plus it's likely we'll have one of our best 3 point shooters back. Guess what....the Jays aren't going to get more athletic.
Also, Creighton is one miracle half from being 0-5 with Dougie on the court against the Shocks.
This was a great college basketball game. One team was just a little tougher than the other. Hope the rematch is just as good, and just as important.
