You can not go on video alone. We don't know what was said or who, if anybody, said anything.

Technical fouls are issued for unsportsmanlike conduct & that certainly includes verbal altercations just as much as the physical kind.

Higgins was right there in the middle of it and was in the best position to make a call based on what he saw & heard.
I am a professional lip reader on the side and DWill clearly said, "Excellent, tough play, Mr. Lemons. Sorry I accidentally grabbed your testicles. What a great day outside! Let's hit coffee after the game is over?"

And he was definitely sincere as you could see several Shockers were stopping him from going over to shake his hand.

Now how can you T-up a guy like that?

    • I think the question about Higgins reffing different might have to do with what the conference wants. Just a guess. They may want different emphasis put on certain things.

I can understand why some say Demetric was going for the testicles.

The slo mo replay shows the ball being pushed by somebody through Lemon's legs. It looked like a snap from a center to the quarterback in football. The ball looked like it was lodged in Lemon's crotch. Demetric has his right hand on the ball in front of Lemon and his left hand on the ball in the rear of Lemon.

        • How many Orukpe critics on here would ever have anticipated his playing 29 productive minutes on the road against a respectable opponent this year?

I remember seeing a post from someone who said the Shocks need to get more from Lufile -- and I agree, although I believe it will come -- but the reason CJ only played 11 yesterday was because Orukpe took command the way he did.

            3) WSU caught a break on the White call. He clearly touched the ball going out.
Agreed that those were the 3 obvious missed calls. I will say on the ball that went off Jake White that he was probably fouled from behind, but it was physcial game and they aren't going to call all of those.

Thanks for the spelling fix. LMAO

He wasn't really going for the berries -- if he snagged them that was inadvertent.

When Carl Hall comes back, I would suspect that his minutes will come from mainly Lufile with some from EO, and Cle.

Regarding Higgin's call, this is what I posted on the MVCfans board:

Regarding the double foul on Lemon, Jr. and Demetric Williams.

John Higgins blew the call. He saw what appeared to be a scrum, so he got all excited and called a double foul.

Señora Rio and I watched a frame by frame replay. Williams played the ball all the way. His two hands were on the ball, until the whistle was blown. He was never an aggressor toward Lemon. On the other hand, Lemon became the aggressor, after the whistle was blown. He kept advancing toward Williams and initiated the contact. Williams grudgingly gave ground. Both players were yakking at each other.

John Higgins made the call, but he had a poor view of the play. He was on the baseline and behind Williams. There was another official off to the side. He was standing on the sideline. He had a perfect view of the play. He is the official, who called jump ball. Alas, he never went to Higgins and told him what he saw.

While Williams is perfectly capable of being the culprit in this scrum, he was not on this occasion.

                    2. Cotton = Playmaker

                    3. I agree with you in spades about EO's growth. It really is amazing. I have to give Cold an atta-boy for his early prediction of the magnitude of EO's value to the team. Most thought he would be helpful. Few thought he would be an impact player.

                    3. Both Malcomb and Demetric are gamers, but both make some inexplicable turnovers, which drives me nuts.
I was surprised that they didn't go to the television monitor and review the play after the call to see what actually happened and get it right. Maybe somebody knows. Is it even legal for the referee to go to the monitor on a play such as this to review it?

I believe they can only go to the monitor to see if punches were thrown. They both probably deserved T's in my opinion. DWill was running his mouth and almost certainly said something that our professional lip reader @Kung Wu: inadvertently missed

Well he did say "Thank you very much, Mr. Higgins. I was needing to talk to coach, and I very much appreciate the opportunity you have provided me." But that was after the T so I didn't think it was relevant.

Dang! That sounds very painful. No wonder he was upset.

I'm one of them. I will say, that EO has been extremely impressive while playing on an ankle he states is approximately 65 percent healthy. I've severely sprained my right ankle twice while playing basketball, both times resulting my toenails up to my knee having a purple discoloration and it was very, very painful. I remember the last sprain took a year to completely heal. So I commend EO for playing through pain and helping the team be successful.

I will also say that his skills have improved tremendously this year and that too, deserves some kudos. However, no way in hell does he deserve a 147 page thread devoted to him and if he goes against any sort of skilled big man, he is going to get worked. I would hate to see how a Mason Plumlee, Jeff Whitey, Kelly Olynyk or Cody Zeller would work him over.
