It went to Hollywood, Florida, which is only halfway to Miami. I really don't think USC will announce a hire until mid-to-late March, since most coaches can not be approached during the season. And he will have to hit the recruiting trail by mid April, let alone getting assistants in place.
It sounds very familiar to our situation last year. And although USC, I am sure, wants to gain promenance in the BB world, which they haven't had since the 80's, I don't really see them becoming a perennial power in BB, especially since BB is 2nd behind Spurrier.Comment

Hoops is a distant 2nd maybe even third to football and maybe baseball. Football is definately king in the SEC.Comment

As I think about this situation, regardless of the outcome, this "announcement on Monday" was completely mishandled. If HCGM was interested in the job, even remotely, he should have said, "I'm interested in coaching WSU right now." If he wasn't interested, then he should have flatly denied it then and there...
...unless this was the scenario:
HCGM never withstanding a losing season as a head coach questions whether he's still the man in JS and the booster's eyes. Also, he questions whether his family is doing OK in Wichita. He wants to cover those bases before he says something that would torpedo his chances at SC.Wichita State, home of the All-Americans.Comment
