you all need to stop crying, it wasnt our night, the season isnt over, yes the refs were pretty bad, but sometimes you gotta fight through it. We just need learn from this and get better.

The problem is that this is how we have played in every semi-competitive game. Way too many fouls, no offense. The difference between winning and losing those games wasn't our teams play, but our opponent shooting at the free-throw line with no one in front of them. We'd be 7-3 or 6-4 right now if every team we played shot well from the free-throw line, so our 9-1 record was somewhat just luck. We aren't good enough for me to feel confident playing against a competitive team yet.

9-1 at this point in the season is good. We just took the loss, so it looms larger at the moment. Surely we all know that we have a long, long way to go to become a refined team. We are fortunate to be at 9-1. This loss will probaby ground us a little bit and make us more focused. It's a marathon and not a sprint. Back to work Shocks; we have a LOT to work on.

My only concern is that we haven't outplayed a good team yet. We pulled out 50/50 games against VCU and Airforce, and just lost to a Tennessee team that didn't even play very well. Do you think we are outplaying the Creighton, Illinois State, and UNI, or just winning close games? I think we are worse than our record, because I feel like every competitive game is just going to come down to whether or not our opponents can hit free-throws.

With all the new faces, I really felt this team would have some struggles in the non-con and they have. On the plus side, we're 9-1 and played a solid, gritty game against VCU for that early in the season. Probably thought we'd go 8-2, at worst 7-3.

What is disconserting is that I feel we are not any better now than from the beginning. We finished tonight like we did at AF. There, we had a 10 point lead with 8:41 left and proceeded to have 7 TOs, 6 PFs, and got outscored 12-19. Tonight was much the same. I was also hoping that after the last game, Wiggins would have helped more tonight. We will need him to get better quickly along with Lufile or lose our depth advantage.

I pegged this team to be a second half of the season team. We have only 2 games over the next 16 days before conference play. Hopefully, tonight will be a wakeup call and a lot can be learned before Dec. 30th.

Seriously, you need to back off of the pedal with this ****. Yeah, we foul a lot. It's a pretty big problem. But now, you're starting to count wins as losses because teams didn't shoot 85% from the free throw line? That's college basketball. Our wins are wins. Our loss is a loss.

9-1, buddy. Ranked 23rd in the country. You need to simmer down a bit.

Just curious about where you had us after game 10 into this season? You at least had us ranked by now, right?

My point is that we have pretty much played the same way against every decent team we've played. I have nothing that tells me will change against Southern Miss, UNI, Illinois State, or Creighton. We don't do enough good things right now to make up for our mistakes against good teams.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a team that should win 13 games in the MVC and hopefully get into the tournament. But we will not make the next step until we can get our mistakes under control and start winning games without hoping the opponent does not shoot well from the line. I would put us around #35 in the country right now after the Tennessee loss, and I cannot justify moving us up just because we have a nearly unblemished record.

We just need to play to our strengths. And that is not 3 point shooting. Period. Early with foul trouble killed us. Who knows how it would have been with he and Carl doing their thing all game.

We had tons of opportunities early in the game to put the hammer down and didnt because we didnt play to our strength. I believe we got 4 turnovers in a row and chucked 4 treys on our possessions.

Not gonna work this year.

I think some of the strategies used last night hurt the shocker performance and a couple of guys had their career worst games. Two technicals and four on-purpose fouls to extend the game really exaggerated the foul shots. Bottom line, gain some perspective.

I didn't say we should dominate at every phase of the game, but so far we have not played a good game against a good team. We look fine on offense against the Howards and Directional Colorados of the world, but when we face a top-50 team (which BTW, Tennessee may not be) we suddenly struggle to score and lose our ability to defend without fouling. We foul on almost half of our possessions in good teams, and that is a recipe for losing close games. It seems like we sometimes get into a rut of TOs and jacked up 3s on offense followed by quick fouls on defense, and that is not good.

And let's be honest, Tennessee didn't particularly play well but we played badly at all phases of the game. If we want to be a top-25 team that expects to go the NCAA tournament and contend for an MVC title, we need to play better.

Once again, every game was on the road.... Most teams look terrible. WSU won three and had the chances to win the fourth when playing poorly. I knew this one would be tough
Since it was going to be the first grind it out against a really good man to man. I am not too worried about the fouls, Marshall may need to adjust the guarding position of a few guards until EO is back on track. MA definitely misses having a goalie to back him up... Everything "wrong" can be adjusted.
