Frank was rough, but the man could coach and recruited pretty well. Weber is a whiny little *****. I never could stand him at SIU and I couldn't stand him at Illinois. Did he ever do much at Illinois after he lost Self's recruits? I know he couldn't recruit the state and that's a huge reason the fans turned on him there. He may be ok at KSU, but he'll get fired at some point because I don't see him having any great success. The hiring of him I believe guarantees that we're no worse than 2nd in the state when it comes to basketball going forward.

I was interested in just how good a recruiter he really was after he lost his high paid recruiter to Turgeon.

As far as I'm concerned, the Koch advantage is currently based on reputation and not the current crowd scene. Our best crowds have been NIT crowds when many in attendance are not season ticket holders. Having a half full student section all but two games a year is a disgrace. Our cheerleaders are terrible. Here we are 8-0 and have not had every seat filled even once this year. When full and rockin Koch is the best. It hasn't come close to that even once this year!

Have the prices reached a point where it is negatively impacting the attendance?

Lots of things, I suppose. The economy is certainly a factor, tho.

Same thing every year, the crowds suck until Valley play starts then it picks up.

I think the schedule has done absolutely no favors as well. I think that is showing just how hard scheduling is getting for 3G.

Of course we all want to play the best, but I think this schedule has been perfect for this team so far. Good, but beatable, competition from BCS schools (DePaul, Iowa, Tennessee) and good mid-majors (VCU, USM, AF) builds confidence in a young team. I think this schedule has contributed to the national press we're receiving now.

It has been noted before that Wednesday nights oftentime conflict with church activities and that makes it difficult for many people. Seems like ten years ago, games were ordinarily on Thursday and Saturdays. This year, our Exhibition was Monday, and we have 1 Tuesday, 5 Wednesday, 2 Thursday 7 Saturday and 1 Sunday home game. I think this spread over the entire week makes consistent attendance more difficult for some people.

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

None of those games are at home. That's the point that was being made. Tulsa is a good home game and will be better when they get things turned around, but nobody is getting excited for Western Carolina or Northern Colorado.

Personally I'd really enjoy it if they would stop being so heavy on corporate season ticket purchases. I understand it's great business when you have some company buy 15-20 tickets in a section, but the only downside is the whole "so who wants the tickets for the game this weekend? Oh, you're all busy, ok well no big deal." And then there are splotches of empty seats around the arena, typically midway up, and it's just empty. You could see a couple sections from where I sat at the Tulsa game, which was right behind the Tulsa bench. Across the arena, at the corner where the couch is, mid way up, easily 12 seats just vacant. Yet if you looked up at all of the tickets that were sold at the ticket office (the last 5 or so rows) it was packed. It seems to me that the "average" fan would support the team much better in bodies than the corporate buyers. Just something I noticed at that last Tulsa game.

Great to be listed in the Top 10 in the country. And it shows what level we are at when I'm complaining about a handful of corporate season ticket holders not showing up, and some schools give tickets away and can't get numbers. Like someone said, it's all relative to living in Kansas.

I think we're talking more about the home schedule. Not one of the teams you mentioned is a game at Koch Arena. No doubt the weak non-conference home schedule is a factor in the lack of interest and excitement.
