He is really not a good assist guy. On the other hand it is hard to get the ball to Q when they have 2 or 3 guys on him every possession. Even Cortes can't get it to him very often. If our 3 point shooters would make shots it would help. Bell, Washington and McGinnis all shoot above 36%. When Beverly and Cortes are in they slack off of them to clog the middle. Beverly in particular is wide open in the corner every possession. The problem is he is a 20% 3pt guy.

Yup, all the opponents know to cheat on Ballard, but even still his wing span allows him to ask for the ball way outside of his defender. And of course the lob is there too. I'm a believer in going to the lob early and often until the other team proves they can stop it. If they do, then we go to plan B -- but it's generally so darn effective we might as well ram it down their throats until they adjust -- if they can.

Bell would be amazing if he would just learn how to feed Ballard in just 20% more of his possessions. His assist stats would go insane and he would find his drives more open for easier buckets.

That's my issue with bell. When he drives in the lane, he is not looking to feed anyone , especially under the basket. He even turns his back to the basketball while jockeying for his shot. The only time he passes is when he can't force a shot up, then he will throw it out to the perimeter. I have yet to see him pass to a cutter or anyone under the basket.
He could be a factor in elevating team play, but in my opinion he hurts this team. I don't care how much he scores, bringing teammates into the fold makes you and your team good. But that is not bell. Just not a fan.

When this happened to the X-Man, he would go get rebounds with hustle and he had a nose for the ball. For us to be competitive in the AAC, the Shocks need to utilize Ballard more IMO. This road game will be more of a battle than some believe it seems now.

Yep. There are times (many) when he could help himself, and the team, if crashed the glass like his hair was on fire for put backs and 'and ones.' He just hasn't shown consistently that he possesses that trait, yet...

I am honestly not sure he would still be coaching anyway. Didn't he want to retire by 60? He has to be close by now. And I don't know he would want to navigate the portal and NIL either. Not a knock on GM but his best days were behind him. We would be in a better place financially and maybe that means we would be in a better place overall....who knows. Does that mean we would definitely have sustained the same level of success the whole time? I am doubtful.

100% we would be in a better place with him. But I just don't see him working the pay for play crap. He would quit just like several others have. IMHO

Transfer portal would be a massive issue for 3G, but NIL would be a strength. 3G was great with boosters and could raise money directly or indirectly.
