  • For diehard fans like us it was 37 minutes of frustration last night that overwhelmed our mood, but for the casual fan last night was actually pretty exciting and they will definitely want to come back. Way more so than if we had blown that team out by 30.

Step away from the cliff, season just started.
Everything about that game besides the final score was a loss.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

No idea what Brown has to do with this.

We had to rally to beat a 300+ team at home. We needed them to miss like 10 FTs late to win. Its perfectly ok to have major questions after that. If the team was progressing the way we hope we should have won by 20+. This isn't a team that has a lot of room for error with our schedule and conference IMO.

Winners gonna find a way to win, games like that build character, definitely some red flags but you have to look at the match up as a whole, we are currently dealing with an injury bug, they showed some resilience last night and pulled off a win. Resilience goes a long way.

I wasn’t the first to bring up Brown in the discussion, people on here criticizing Paul Mills as if he doesn’t show enough fire and comparing him to Brown, it’s laughable because Mills is leaps and bounds above Brown when it comes to in game coaching. We won that game due to coaching.

I’d sure like to agree that we won because of coaching last night. My eyes tell me we won in spite of our coaching last night.

hopefully just an off night for everyone. Saint Lew will be the tell.

Totally ******g delusional perspective, especially coming off of the worst WSU season in how many years? You stand in need of a refresher.

Where would this team be without IB recruit QB? Last night was a pretty good indicator.

                • Every coach is his own man and we will never be able to make Coach Mills into 3G and display that fire we're so accustomed to. That's ok, there's certainly been successful coaches that are less animated. I gotta say though, after a game like that, you have social media videos where there's celebrating and giving out the flying W chain to Bell...I would like to think most coaches would shut that sh** down. That was just 45 second snippet in the locker room after the game so maybe there was some ass chewin or difficult truths that were dished out that we didn't get to see. I certainly hope there was more reflection than good feels after a game like that.

I do think that Monmouth deserves a lot of credit. They were full of piss and vinegar and took full advantage of our complacency. Being 0-4 they played like they had nothing to lose and everything to gain, damn near embarrassed us and then collect $75,000.00.

Hopefully this game was an anomaly. It will be so freaking nice to have QB back and if Meeks can be a big contributor, I think will go a long ways in giving us a shot to win the American.

                  • Boy the negativity on here is ridiculous - was last nights game pretty? Not in the least. Was last nights game a W? Yes. Does everyone expect to go from dumpster fire to contender overnight!? a 4-0 start is all anyone can ask for.

I realize that I'm the last IB holdout here(no, he was not Gregg-level) but if you say we won that due to coaching...when? Where? If they are not ready to play, THAT'S on the coach....

I had a bad attitude last night. I was even bitching about quick change.......what's next, blue Panda?

We've seen the best. Hell, the poor guy from the real quick change has been dead for 4 years.

Back to Matej....didn't realize he played 34 minutes. Surprising to me, even as I watched it and realized we were short handed. A beautifully sweet spin and dunk was part of a 4-4 night from the field & 4-5 from the line. No bad 3 shots. Only 2 boards (something to work on) though, but 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and only 1 turnover to go with 2 excellent back picks to free up the lobs to Beverly who can really fly.

We absolutely have to find ways to get him the ball a lot more often. REALLY good things happen when he touches the ball in the paint.

So when we lost the MVC championship by losing to Evansville, that was on Gregg Marshall right?

I don't often disagree with you, but I think even a casual fan appreciates tough defense and nice ball movement for open, good shots. Any team can drive to the basketball and throw up a prayer while hoping to draw a foul. Most kids can do it, but we don't want most kids, we want high level basketball players, which I believe we have a few of. The trick is to coach them to work as a team, not to isolate them and have them drive to the Forrest and throw it up.

As far as excitement goes, you may be correct for the casual fan for the last 3 minutes or so. But Wichita area has more knowledgeable people than most areas when it comes to hoops. And if they're like me, I'd rather see good team play than a bunch of individuals forcing up crap.

                              • A lot of opinions being thrown out. Here are some facts.

The second half we shot 70% from 2 and 90% from the free throw line. 8 of our 14 makes from 2 were the result of an assist.
That is a monumental change from the first half.

By the logic of several on here, that credit has to be given to the coaches.
