  • Those with the Mills hatred probably should take a break, that hatred over the next three years won't be healthy.

It actually getting disappointing watching some of you root against the program. WSU by losing doesn't get a better draft pick. If you hate Mills so much, you should be rooting for his success so he moves on.

        Sorry bud, few points here:
        1. Mills being here three years is a death sentence to this program. You think the 90s was bad? Or brown was bad? This will only get worse.

        2. If he’s having his version of success (probably poor), then program will settle for mediocrity and that is also a death sentence. But that’s not gonna happen, because he’s awful.

        3. I’m rooting *for* the program by wanting us to lose out. Loosing out will drive faster, better long term results than him winning some here and there and getting arguments for staying on. If anything, look to Louisville as an example. Had a terrible coach too and eventually the donors came together and booted him out. We can only hope to be like them.

        4. you’re probably right that we should take a break. But most of us care about the program, and choose to participate here, even if we’re not killing our own brain cells watching him “coach”

        5. Hatred would be a blessing. Instead, I’d probably wager that most of us are in the apathy stage, which is worse.

        6. I have too much free time on my hands.

You're the one who said we won't be able to hire any decent coaches so this is as good as it's going to get. You may be right but some of us haven't completely given up hope for better days in the future. For many fans that is all that's remaining. Once that's gone then you no longer are a fan.

So would that be with Roseanne Barr or Cracklin Rosé. I think a lot of the Shockers may be doing the latter.

              This Rosé.

Member of arguably the biggest pop group in the world right now.

Also recently spent time at the top of the Billboards chart, may still be up there, with her debut solo album.

All around gorgeous woman and seems like one that has a really good soul as well.

Who's rooting against the program? Talking, complaining, or whatever, about your coach who seems to not be getting it done on the court for the millions of dollars he's being paid, is hoping something can be done that will turn the program around. It may be that the coach does turn it around and that's fine, but nothing is pointing in that direction at this time. If you have some fairy dust to give to Mills that will changes things, please do. I want the program to succeed.

True, but I would be more concerned if no one cared at all. Anger/displeasure is still engagement. Caring (even negatively) is still better than not caring at all. If we get to a point where SN isn't pushing for the program to improve and for things to get better, I'd be more concerned. There is still passion here.

Translation: Accept mediocrity and like it.

Though mediocrity would be a step up right now.

I mean. The market (NCAA basketball) is dislocated/perverse/corrupt/broken/etc. It's not worth the hit to your health worrying about things that are FAR out of your control. What I'm saying is, we may be in a similar situation even if we had done a bunch of things differently. Lots and lots of assumptions being made in this fine forum.

People criticizing Mill's recruiting with basically zero NIL (comparatively) is a bridge too far. These kids want money. Mills is smart enough to put together a dream team. He just needs the checkbook. Who's gonna give him a checkbook? I'm sure not.

So he's not going to coach his way to big success without a checkbook. That's first and foremost. So... adjust your expectations. For your own health. Find some things to enjoy. I know I have, whenever I watch a game. I like #6 and the big fella. I don't expect to win. There's no way I could generate enough interest (at this point) after what has happened over the last 5 years to actually feel like we have a chance at.. anything.

If enough progress is made, I will change my opinion/perspective. Right now we are in the cellar. Firing Mills wouldn't/couldn't change that for the foreseeable future. We'd be right back into another rebuilding phase, with even less money.

I'm sure Mill's ceiling is higher than what we are witnessing. Oftentimes progress is happening beneath the surface. Then all of a sudden you see a huge jump in visual results. Let's hope that progress is happening. Or not.

                        • I've said many times that NIL is not an acceptable excuse when schools with lesser resources and NIL are running laps around us. And our NIL I believe is in the upper half of the conference and we're not paying football players.

So find a better excuse for Mills' inability to put good enough talent on the court.

And NIL doesn't effect his ability to coach. His lack of ability there is all on him and he's getting paid quite well to suck at it.

The majority of the conference will not have more NIL dedicated to men's basketball than us. Maybe only Memphis most years. They all have football to feed too

I said the same thing when Marshall was sucking and Drake was going balls deep on everybody with what looked like YMCA players.

We are losing out on players we normally wouldn't have because of NIL. That's a fact.

Inferior funded teams can beat superior funded teams on any given day. That is also a fact. But over time, the well-funded teams win the majority of the games.

Like I said, Mills likely has a higher ceiling than what the fans are currently seeing. Many other teams across America are also playing below their potential, and they are much better funded. We've had a lot of good luck over the years. Maybe it's our time to have some bad luck. Or at least that's what I've told myself.

It will be interesting to see who transfers out at the end of the season. If we lose our best players, I would advise lowering expectations even further.

I hope you're not underestimating the large donor fallout to firing Marshall. Maybe they get over it, maybe they don't even care anymore, maybe they're designating $s specifically to other sports. Nevertheless, they will need to be on board. Might be interesting to compare our 1990s attendance with that of the Brown/Mills era.
