  • Armstead in Cancun

Armstead is all over about three or four threads after that last game. I could ask this anywhere but why not make a thread...

My question is this: Does he start next game?

I say yes, but I'm on the fence because of how good D-Will was during the debacle.

I think DWill definitely earned a start. I don't think Baker did anything to lose his starting spot. Arnstead lost all his brownie points and is going to have some great practices between now and DePaul if he wants to keep his starting spot.

For those who think Dub-V has "a loooong way to go", Ragland wasn't any better at this stage of his career (a couple of games at WSU) and he hadn't missed half of the practices to this point bewcause of an injury.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

DW probably starts, I would guess. Coach was not very complimentary of him either, tho.

MA starts. Coach was being dramatic. All I know is that my throat is absolutely swollen shut and I do not have a temperature. I think coach will realize that he was a little over the top...

Fred (and several others) learned a lot yesterday. I have zero concerns for this team going forward. Marshall is pushing buttons to make his team better. High ceiling and little time. HCGM is making the most of every moment and the guys are going to respond.

That would not fit with the picture of Coach that I have.

It fits perfectly with the one I have watched since before he arrived at WSU.... It isn't a knock on him.

David Kyles lost his starting spot for far less last year (poor D in the Creighton loss). Marshall sent a very loud message last year when he rewarded DWill's hustle and defense. I would be very surprised if MA starts the game (or two or three).

I wouldn't be surprised if Armstead doesn't start against DePaul. And that is probably fitting punishment. I don't think he sits long though. Armstead is a good young man and wants to win, I have no doubt he will respond to Marshalls challenge just fine. I actually feel better about the DePaul game now than I did before. It is nice for the team to learn these lessons in a 19 point win. I bet practices will be hell for a little while. I have a great feeling that we are going to see a VERY focused team on Tues.

All eyes are on the quarterback in football and basketball. You are only as tough as your quarterback leading the way. D-Will did just have his best game this Season but excels more at the shooting guard position IMO. Even Rags early on last Season had to 'right his ship' and responded by having an epic Season for us. I think the stern 3G message to our players was for all 12, not just MA. Find 3G the 7-8 players that are primed and ready of the 12 each game and Coach will play those 7-8 no matter who they are. That is the luxury of having 12, count them 12, solid players. Thus, I think MA starts, but stranger things have happened and we don't know all of the details.

When Coach Marshall lays down a marker, he does not back off it very easily or often.

I think Malcolm will be fine. I think he's a good young man and will rebound.

MA will start... Coach made his point.... no need to go further with a guy that has played well and worked his butt off while paying his own way. The message was to the team -
