A few thoughts . . . Before coming to WSU, Malcolm was exposed to juco coaches and Dana Altman. The same Dana Altman who coddled P'Allen Stinnett for two years before finally trying to send a message. Marshall is clearly more prone to sending an early, unmistakable message. Just from what I've seen on the court I like Armstead's makeup and think he'll respond. He may or may not start vs. DePaul, but as Marshall says, it doesn't matter who starts, but who finishes.
Armstead and Williams bring some different attributes to the offense and game situations will determine who Marshall wants on the floor. Malcolm is a steady ball-handler (see VCU game) with the ability to force his way into the lane when necessary. So does Demetric, but I think Malcolm's decision-making and control are better. Demetric, OTOH, is the better shooter.
I think we're fine and once the tip goes up tomorrow night the Howard game will be forgotten.

One more thing to consider – Marshall was directly questioned about Malcolm in both the radio interview and the post-game news conference. This gave Marshall more of an opportunity to express his displeasure with Malcolm. A couple of hours of film watching will probably improve Malcolm’s relative position vs. his teammates. I believe the post-game interview would have gone differently had the rest of the players blown out Howard to Marshall’s expectations.
In fact, I would guess that the tone of his comments would have been consistent with his previous statements about Williams (Why didn’t he have the surgery at the end of last year and he isn’t doing the team any-good sitting on the sideline in practice). For those who do not remember, he sounded annoyed but not angry.
Bottom line – Shockernet is overreacting. We will see on Tuesday.

I love Ron Baker's game, but I could see Demetric starting at the 1 and Malcom eventually moving back in at the 1 with Demetric sliding over to the 2. That would be our most experienced backcourt tandom and lessen the pressure on the freshmen. Baker and VanVleet would be coming off the bench with an assist from Tekele at either spot.

Sounds like the team may have responded to the challenge:
“They were a little better than I thought when I went back and watched the video,” he said. “And (Sunday’s) practice was pretty dog-gone good.”

I figured they would have a good practice Sunday when it took a half hour for Marshall to come out of the locker room Saturday. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
