MVC Non-Conference Games

I was looking at MVCfans and saw a particular signature; my immediate reaction was extreme sympathy. The sig was

UNI vs. Missouri/Stanford

Illinois State vs. UAB in South Padre Invitational

Creighton vs. Wisconsin at 9 PM in Las Vegas Invitational on ESPN2

Drake vs. Georgia Tech/Rice at Anaheim Classic

UNI vs. Memphis/VCU/Duke/Minnesota in Battle 4 Atlantis

Illinois State vs. Northwestern/TCU at South Padre Invitational

Creighton vs. Arkansas/Arizona State in Las Vegas



Additionally, Drake will wrap up the Anaheim Classic on Saturday against one of Drexel/Pacific/St. Mary's/Xavier.

I'm not sure about that. It's early in the season, and while UNI thrives when Ben has a huge coaching advantage (that's often) that's not the case here. However, his experienced teams are usually way ahead of the curve, execution wise early on. It would not surprise me at all to see UNI keep this close.

3 months from now it's a 20-30 point game however.

That coupled with UNI's style makes them extremely difficult to blow out. While I have difficulty cheering for a team that flops more than Drew Barrymore movies and draws the same amount of people per game as some of Wichita's finer middle schools, here's to rooting that they ugly it up enough to make it interesting and possibly steal it at the end.

Of course I will be watching our lady volleyballers.

Hard to think we won't be playing in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the next few years. IMO second best tournament, behind Maui right now.

Could easily happen, that tournament field is sick. Hopefully Gregg can work us into that tournament sometime in the future- it looks like it's replacing Maui as the elite early season throwdown.

It's hard not to enjoy watching Wichita play. But I don't look forward to having play them twice.

Louisville is on a whole other planet from UNI in terms of talent and athleticism.
