Nick Wiggins needs to find another way pf celebrating his 3-pt makes (and other good plays) -- the skipping and smiling is A-okay, but his pounding his chest at midcourt is too much, IMHO. Glad for the kid and it is exciting, but he needs to find another way before it is called something.

I would also like to see Nick tone it down a little and act like his been there, but in his defense he really hasn't been there. I acknowledge that I'm an old fogey.

I'm not against exuberance, just the self-pointing fist-to-chest, particularly that close to the opponent bench. But I am excited he feels the joy of success in the moment. SoW's fist pump and grin after making the end-of-half 3-pt shot annoyed me because it was him, but that quick celebration is fine -- he didn't extend it 2-3-4 seconds longer.

Not exactly a game of note, but after defeating Auburn, Ole Miss (not to be confused with Southern Miss) player Marshall Henderson went over and taunted the student section. Some posters on here have said that the NCAA has been stressing sportsmanship after seeing Malcolm pick up some T's and even Carl pick up a T in a game for yelling. Could anything be done about this?

Edit: Not saying something should be done about this, but if players on the court are going to get a quick whistle because of this emphasis on sportsmanship, how does this factor into everything?

I know I'm off topic, but:

We thought Kyle Weems was bad. Marshall Henderson puts Weems to shame. Henderson has been a mouthy arrogant little punk everywhere he's been. He was hated in the MWC, and now he's hated in the SEC. He insists on taunting opposing fans, in their arenas, from buzzer to buzzer. The hatred for this kid by opposing fans is getting worse and worse. And if his Coach and AD don't rein him in, at least on the road, there could be hell to pay.

I think this is part of the whole issue with Nick transitioning to D-1 ball. Make that 3G's vision of D-1 ball. Just as he as bad habits on defense and rebouding these celebrations are another bad habit he needs to break as he transitions from loosey-goosey Juco, playground ball to the down and dirty bring your hardhats and lunchpails tough basketball 3G demands. I believe I see some progress. I suppose David Kyles comes to mind as a similar type of player. Unfortunatley, Nick only has this year and next to get it right. Like David, Nick's athleticism is off the charts, Nick is a little bigger than David and he looks like he is probably a more consistent shooter than David plus he can also slash to the basket very well. OTOH, perhaps it doesn't hurt to have a free spirit or two on the team just to add a little flavor. It just has to be in the right dose.

I don't really mind Nick's chest thumping since Carl basically turns and screams as loud as he can whenever he gets a tough put back.

I've never understood the self-aggrandizing after doing one's job. Next time my code builds successfully and performs the task I designed it to do I'm going to jump up from my char, pound my chest and dance like a monkey (a code monkey, of course).

For crying out loud, guys. You're out there to make shots. Stop celebrating every one. Celebrate after the final buzzer and you're team has more points than your opponent.

It's one of the reasons I have no desire to watch the NFL. Congratulations, Mr. Defensive Back, you tackled a guy who just caught a ball for a first down. Don't talk crap, dance or pound your chest. You failed to do half of your job. Just shut up, go back to the huddle and try to do better next time.
