Kel is 100-percent right. There are a lot of reasons to be excited. Anyone who wants to act like this wasn't a B+ A- offseason, or higher, is lying to themselves.

But, even this sunshine pumper knows that the proof will be in the pudding.

I do think the "Mills can't recruit, Saal sucks, our NIL is trash" crowd will have to eat quite a bit of crow at some point - but again the results have to follow.

I'm throwing caution into the wind!

We're a 9-11 seed this year! And ... one or more tournament wins to boot!

          • Mat replacing Pohto is starting to look like an upgrade - possibly a substantial upgrade.

Meeks replacing Abidde is such an upgrade that it's laughable.

McGinnis replacing Rogers is an upgrade if McGinnis candribble or play defense.

That leaves Hill and Washington being additions - not replacements

I believe Mills upgraded the roster in year 2. I expect the Mills haters to criticize him as underperforming with his roster every time the Shox lose a game.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

We are going to lose games, its still a lot of new pieces and pieces that are expected to take minutes from returners. Even elite coaches would probably have some chemistry issues at times. We SHOULD show great improvement over last year though (which isn't a high bar lol).

100% agree. The roster has been upgraded and depth has been achieved. 25-26 is an issue, but that doesn't matter today, or in the foreseeable future. Hopefully the experience level will make up for the lack of togetherness and allow the team to pick up the system a bit more rapidly, and successfully, than under different circumstances.

Plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming season. I cannot even believe we might have gone from praying QB never gets tired or hurt, flew right past serviceable, and now just might be in a place where our inside game could be a real problem for the opposition.

I never expected a Texan to be so weak kneed! You must be an Austin boy.

The true gauge of success will be how the team plays in February-March. My expectation is NIT with the upside being a potential conference tournament auto-bid.

It'll be interesting to see how much rope guys get from HCPM this season now that every position has at least one capable backup.

Where we might be lacking is the top-end talent, first or second team all-conference types. I could see that being Quincy, Justin, or Corey. We'll have to see. If any of the three freshman or Joy can crack that rotation, watch out.

                        Quincy Ballard Senior
                        Matej Bosnjak Junior
Lots of Senior Logjams on this eleven. Maybe all 11 will play. Not to play the Juniors and Freshman would be malpractice unless they can't compete with the Seniors.

At one time Zion Pipkin was rated a Top 100 recruit by many recruiting rating systems. I have to believe that he is ready to play, and can compete with Cortes and Bell..Bosnjak and Washington are also ready to compete. That may leave a Senior, or two as odd men out. Gregg Marshall used to say that "WINNING" creates chemistry. He was a pretty good coach, and didn't back down to player peer pressure. I think he was right.

                        • Hill is an addition but he should be an upgrade at the PG position over what we had last year. I'm guessing he will be the lead PG with Cortes coming off the bench and Bell being moved off ball.
I view Washington as being an upgrade over DeGray. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Who cares what they do in February and March at this time. Only November and December matter right now.

                            • Players may not buy in, but we have the potential to be a squad where the matchup of the game drives the playing time.

We can go small ball or tall ball now.
We can go inside bruiser or let it rain from outside.
We can go slash or pick-and-roll.
We can lob all day long or feed the cutters.

I'm guessing we have the experience to run a frustrating zone too, but not 100% sure there. Individual experience doesn't necessarily translate into team experience. And a solid zone takes chemistry.

                              So many options though.

Never really tuned in with Austin. Keep Austin Weird is very much in perpetual motion. I'd have rather stayed in Wichita, but money talked.
