Maybe my memory is screwed up but I faintly remember that there was a terrible call at the end and misinterpretation of fans booing the refs as fans booing the players.

Okay this is my recollection: WSU played Evansville on 02/09/10 at Evansville and lost 62-65. I think it was Evansville’s only win of the year in the MVC. The next day, Bob Lutz, who works for the Wichita Eagle wrote an article on the worst losses in WSU’s history. Here is the link for the article: http://www.kansas.com/2010/02/11/117...n-for-wsu.html (please note for those of you who might be concerned, I didn’t write the article, I wasn’t consulted on the article, I didn’t contribute to the article, I am not taking credit for the article in any shape or form as I am not a journalist nor do I claim to be one).

Then we played Evansville a week later here in Wichita and won the game in overtime. Here is the youtube video we made Entitled “Flashbacks with Mike Kennedy - Evansville at WSU - Audio (02-17-10) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaeoK1WZUk0, (Please note for those of you who are concerned, it says Flashback with Mike Kennedy and not Flashbacks with the WuShock Reaper. Also if you watch/listen to the video it gives credit to www.shockerradio.com as the source at the 7:30 mark. So just to be clear, for those of you are troubled, I didn’t do the play-by-play that was Mike Kennedy and I didn’t record the game that was ShockerRadio.com.)

Were fans booing. You bet they were. As Mike Kennedy points out in his observations of the game there was a terrible call at the end of the game. Coach Marshall was already ticked off about losing at Evansville the week before, was really tick off about Mr. Lutz’s article, and was really really ticked off about the way the game ended during regulation. IMHO (opinion not based on fact) Coach Marshall confused the booing during the game as though it was directed at his team or him. It was not. It was directed at the referees.

Yeah, that was my recollection too. I bet a search on Shockernet would sniff that out too.

I may be wrong, but I remember this being the TCU game.

My old memory isn’t the best, however I seem to recall an incident back in the horrible 90’s era when a nimrod tossed a ‘loaded wienie’ towards the refs from way up in the cheap seats. About halfway down, the bun departed the wienie like a booster rocket separating from the space shuttle. It was a sight to behold. IIRC, the incident was later referred to as “Weinergate” and the perpetrator was stripped of his season tickets. I can’t recall if we boo’d or applauded his efforts. Although the ‘flying wienie’ didn’t hit the intended target, it was one hell of an effort.

I seem to recall once that Marshall was asked to control the crowd, so he took the mic and said something like, "Please stop booing these horrioble calls or they're going to give us a technical."
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

The best thing after that the crowd cheered as loud as possible after that and it was defeaning for the rest of the game. And the refs knew they were being reversed booed - but then couldn't do anything. Magically the calls started turning around.

If he actually said "stop booing these horrible calls" then I love him even more. :)

I thought that Billy Tubbs had said that in Norman once. But I do know that some coach did it.

"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:

Reminds me of St. Louis last year. He got forced to apologize, so he says "I'm sorry, but I stand by what I said."

haha wait, what? I loved it.
