Isn't that like saying that if I pay a star QB to do a commercial, that I have to pay each student athlete an equal amount? Or does it mean if I pay the male athletes equal amounts, that the sum of payment to female athletes have to be equal to the sum of male athletes payments.
It will not survive either way. It's amazing how government screwed amateur athletics and now they want to fix it.

I kind of wish the group of universities that can afford it would just split off football and men's basketball and stop the charade and call themselves the College Professional Athletics Association (CPAA), and become the lower level pro league they already are. Do regular contracts with athletes, with all the good, bad, and ugly that comes from that. If you're going to be paid like a pro, all the other stuff comes along with it. Then maybe the other universities that can't do that could return to something more like what we had before, but with reasonable levels of stipends that are more properly managed and controlled.
Or maybe I'll just go watch juco or D2 or NAIA games. Or just say F it about it all and start going to more of the School of Music concerts.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Investors pitch new international basketball league that would offer players equity
The investors are looking to raise $5 billion to start a basketball league that could offer players equity to potentially lure them away from the NBA.
By Jessica Golden, CNBC
Published January 16, 2025
"A group of high powered investors want to raise billions to form a new international basketball league, according to people familiar with the matter. The new organization would offer players equity, those people said. The investors aim to raise $5 billion for the league, which could serve as a rival to the NBA if it can offer big-money deals to players, similar to how LIV Golf lured away PGA Tour players. It's unclear which players the league would target or when it could start. Maverick Carter, LeBron James' longtime friend and business partner, is advising a group that includes investment firm SC Holdings' Jason Stein and Daniel Haimovic, Skype co-founder Geoff Prentice and former Facebook executive Grady Burnett...."

Koch Arena is a special place and I treasure the games I experienced there. The MVC tournament was great. I started going when Mark T was the coach and didn’t miss a tournament until we moved to the AAC. I did go to Ft Worth once but it didn’t compare to St Louis. Totally different vibe.

I pay eight dollars for senior general admission. I sit at mid court about 10 rows up from the court and park close to the arena. I gave up my Shocker season tickets this year. I hated to do that but since my brother and friend died it just wasn’t much fun anymore. I would go to Kansas Newman and Friends games if I still lived in Wichita. Probably go over to Hutch and El Dorado for JUCO games also. I also go to high school games in Topeka. Lots of fun basketball around if you look for it.

College basketball was a beautiful thing. But the trend has been to create a "super" league for quite a while now, and it has finally been done. Just look at all the good SEC basketball teams now. That league used to SUCK in bball. So now it's just Big10 and SEC.
The consolation prize is the B12 dying. I'm kind of sad about the ACC. Oh well. I hope they enjoy their little two-league circle jerk for the rest of time. Ole Miss and Alabama in the Final Four..... lmfao.

I laugh with joy when I see Iowa St. ahead of Cheatin' ChicKUns.
If you hate the state of college basketball or college athletics in general, that’s how you fix it. You don’t even acknowledge that it exists. At some point, the TV money will dry up.
Granted, this next part is fictitious, but I always wondered why Rudy’s dad only watched Notre Dame football. He scoffed at the notion of checking on a Purdue game at halftime. Now, in my advanced years, I understand it. I pretty much only care about the Broncos, the Yankees, and any WSU team.78-65
