We seem so far behind in having a face to these collectives. The big boys have their most beloved former athletes involved while we have some semi-anonymous ku guys doing something.

And along those lines, and this is no swipe at Fred, but if he's embarrassed by his former school he is in a position to help. Both with name and contribution. So are a lot of folks.

Big Dawg and X have both been very public about supporting WSU and one would think that one or both would be willing to help by being a face or spokesperson for raising of such funds within an NIL. Maybe I'm wrong, but those guys I'm sure could do quite a bit to help open some bank accounts to the cause.
Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
          RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

Fred helped with the weight room. Also are any other current NBA players helping with other schools NILs? Wouldn't be surprised if there are some contractual limitations from either the NBA or their own various marketing deals. NIL is supposed to be a marketing thing

With those high visibility Shocker heroes, even just lending their name and voice to the cause would help. Financial contribution would be icing on the cake.

I met with the Armchair guys today - would like to report back to you guys.

A lot of the ideas Iā€™ve been throwing around with this are already in progress with them and their rebrand. Their big announcement is in fact coming very soon and imo, will make a huge difference. This isnā€™t a case of them ripping my ideas or anything either, at all. Theyā€™ve been planning a big change since October - and I think all of your input is very much heard in whatā€™s coming.

On the transparency side, they are doing what they can while avoiding potential locker room issues and there are legal/regulatory issues with the amount of transparency that Iā€™m sure weā€™d all like, but communication WILL be better and there are actionable plans behind that (and everything we discussed).

They have certainly had to go through a lot of change, between them attempting to start something with fADDB at the helm and then getting the full blessing of ADKS and alongside their day to day stuff it would make it damn near impossible to also be up to date to the day on ever changing NIL rules. Thatā€™s also being addressed.

The numbers add up, theyā€™re clearly passionate about the Shockers and have poured a LOT of behind the scenes effort into this. They know it hasnā€™t translated publicly despite all theyā€™ve done privately and that the social media/newsletter etc communication wasnā€™t up to speed.

I came away very impressed overall. Tyler and Matt are good guys and clearly passionate about the Shockers. I know there have been plenty of comments about Mattā€™s KU involvement as well but hearing the positives of that connection and what it has already done I donā€™t believe it is a detriment at all and is definitely a positive.

For all those on the edge, as I was at times, I encourage you to crawl on up and give the rebrand and the effort theyā€™ve put into turning things around a chance. I know I will be. And thank you to Armchair Strategies for giving, quite simply, a regular guy who happens to be VERY passionate about the Shockers the time of day. Iā€™m excited for what they have coming up.

Actions speak louder than words. I will give them a chance to show some action.

Absolutely. Totally reasonable mindset to have

                        This...

And as far as transparency. I don't think anyone expects a per player accounting. At bare minimum, there needs to be a total donations and total overhead disclosure. Ideally it would also have a total by sport disclosure but that probably needs ADKS to bless to prevent cross sport issues

I do appreciate you taking the time to talk to them on the behalf of shockernation and report back here though. Thank you for doing that.

I really am not trying to be a dick, because I generally agree with all the criticisms of Armchair I have seen on here - But can you find any other NIL collective in the country where they have put out total donation numbers? Or any of the money numbers by sport? Like specifically.

If you need that for you to donate, that is certainly your right, but I do not believe that is standard, for many reasons, for any NIL Collective in the nation.

From what I have seen, again in limited research, this would be far more information disclosed than what is usual.

I understand why the information would be great to have.

Iā€™m not sure it needs to be transparent to the general public, but at minimum there should be transparent rules about overhead vs distribution (like a non-profit) and a board of advisors that can oversee behind the scenes. Put AC, X and maybe Ron on the board along with a some wealthy donors that are interested in the cause. My 2 cents.

edit - I said Cliff on the board, meant to say AC

The main K-State one, CatsNIL, states that 90% of donations go to the athlete, and 10% to the overhead costs of operating the NIL.
