      • Nice win. That last loss gave plenty of examples of how to lose. That and the humiliation probably played to the shocks advantage today. They appeared much more tuned into the game and most of the time played as a team. Rogers needs to work on that part.
Still see XB drive with one goal of getting his shot off. But he did pass outside a time or 2, so there is improvement there. Also KP didn't waste time pivoting 5 times to get his shots off (another positive). But the biggest take I got was a little fire in their pants today.

To be fair, he drilled it after about 8 misses, but many of the 8 were right there.

            And he's in the Portal.

Best post of the thread. Now if Sticky Boy would only pay attention to it.

              That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

Definitely the right direction. We finally did something different .. and what do you know .. it worked. .. we are still 1-6 in conference and only have 2 wins in all of December and January right now. So might want to wait to see if this is an actual step in the right direction or just a blip before you call me out by name.

That would ruin half of the entertainment value of SN. And if Cold wasn't called out it would be a total disaster.

                        • For a game with 2550 in the house, the fans really brought it. The team's effort had a lot to do with that.

Said it before, but it needs repeating, the spirit squad (cheer and dance) as well as the band have been absolutely spot on all year. They don't take a play off.

I don't think anyone here (or anywhere) thinks this team should be, say, 5-2 and fighting for a bye in the post season tourney. But just beat 2 of Temple (tied under 4), FAU (tied under 6) and ECU (total **** show) and we're 3-4. Really, just effort and caring for 40 minutes would have been enough for Temple and ECU. We got one today that we probably didn't deserve instead of a shot at FAU.

But as bad as we've been (and no doubt, it's been BAD) this is still a young team in terms of playing together. And in some ways, having an older team hurts in this kind of situation. Regardless, they are still searching for an identity, as a team. IF (and that's a big if) they can embrace an identity, then they can find their fair share of success in a league that is very open. Yes, Memphis and FAU are above others in talent, but we've already shown an ability to play with FAU and Memphis has shown that they can absolutely **** any bed. BUT, we have to find our identity and as HCPM has said, for the most part, it's going to be defense and that means not taking any plays off. We're just not good enough to overcome a ton of mistakes.

Today at least, we made enough free throws, kept the turnovers under control after the first 10 minutes, Cortes made a HUGE 3 when we had to have it and we utilized our size to give SMU fits. Not sure how many 2 footers or less we had, but it was many. That's good. That's good coaching and execution.

We needed (the kids and staff needed) this game to get off the schneid. Now that we're off, where do we go?

                          • Would you believe that was our 8th straight win against SMU? And the final one to send them on to the ACC?

Might need to save the game film on that one.

In a season that has lacked "want to" at times, there was a lot of want to out there today. Ridgnal was outstanding.

That play reminded me of a scrum from 2018 against Temple where (of all people) Shaq got on the floor and ripped it away from the opposition. The arena went absolutely ape **** crazy on that play and Shaq’s subsequent block on the other end.

Gosh, I miss that raucous CKA crowd.
