First of all, I don't think Mills is the answer at head coach, but I also realize we are stuck with him for awhile unless the well-heeled donors want to pony up a lot of money for a buyout.

But I think I've posed this before. Are we stuck in a catch-22 of: we can't get more donation money coming in until we are more successful on the floor, but we can't get more successful on the floor (in this age of NIL) without more donation money.

In the 90s, even as much of a fuster cluck it was, games were entertaining because there was effort. Often haphazard and lacking in direction, but there was effort. And the entertainment value and the hope for something better was worth the ticket price. If the effort and fight were there now, even if we were losing, I might see the hope being worth a $20-30 ticket. But right now, I can't see myself spending a lot of money to go to a game and be miserable. I think I'll be holding my Shocker dollars for baseball and softball (and School of Music concerts) for now.

With Mills it's 7 guys and the rest should not even suit up. If you're one of the magnificent 7 you don't need to do anything as your time is safe. I bet on that card he holds there is only 7 or 8 names so he doesn't have to think during the game. I say bench them and let the other members of the team prove what they can do. There is a reason players hit the portal for lack of playing time.

If you would have told me five years ago that Kansas State was coming to Charles Koch Arena on a Saturday night, I would have been drooling at the thought of it. If I was offered a free ticket today, I still think I'd stay home or do something else. That just sucks.

IB started Joe Pleasant over RCIV. You guys remember that? The only thing worse than his coaching was his interviews. He was an awful coach. We had to move on.

We had to move on yes ... we didn't have to move on when we did when our only option was Mills. That's the problem and more of an ADKS problem than a Mills problem. Should have waited a year, lowered HCIBs buyout and lined up a home run coach before moving on.

Speaking of Kevin Saal, I remember him coming out and saying the loss to Alcorn State was "unacceptable" and not up to the standard of the program - essentially putting IB on notice.

Haven't heard anything substantive from Saal about basketball in a while. I guess it's easier to make strong statements like that when you're not the guy who hired the underperforming coach.

RCIV played more minutes. HCIB won a conference crown, GGG didn't. The Conference is WAY WAY weaker today. Would the idiots who thought Brown was cohen/thompson redux change their tune now? Apparently not according to some of the posts on here. Well, you got your wish.

We all saw the Monmouth game. That looked almost worse than the 90's...

That same cost logic could be applied to the IB situation but Saal said it anyway. Sure, they really can't afford to fire Mills, but they couldn't exactly afford to fire IB either and Saal still pulled the trigger.

As an apathetic fan, I'd rather someone call out that there is a standard at WSU that is not being met rather than continue to hear about how the team is learning from its mistakes but never seems to improve.

He also has the benefit of having two other guards the defense is even more worried about. He was the only one defenses had to worry about last year. At Memphis he can stick to what he does well on offense - catch and shoot. At WSU, he had to create.
