Regular Season wins vs KP Top 100 teams: 1 (#48 Liberty in 22-23. Add +2 wins when adding in the 2021 Tourney)

Regular Season losses vs KP Top 100 teams: 35 (+2 if you add tourney).

So 1-35 vs top 100 teams (or 3-37 with Tourney Results)

Either that means that his system struggles with better teams, or he was unable to get the right players to run his system. Still TBD on that. Hopefully its the 2nd one and he can land some good guys in the portal this offseason.

(NOTE: noticed I switched from Top 150 in my post above to Top 100 here. Did it for ease of scanning the data. for reference though, record vs Top 150 is: 9-49)

This is concerning, but less so when I went back and looked at Marshall's 9 year record at Winthrop.

    Against KP Top 100 teams -- 8-33

Expanding to KP Top 150 teams -- 8-48

I added them up pretty quick but these totals are very close if not exactly right.

Thanks for doing that and making an apples to apples comparison. Just like Mills, I’m sure 90% of the games were road games.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

Good data thanks. So yea Marshall did not great but better than Mills (19% win percentage vs Top 100 vs 3%). Just was an interesting data point since we are seeing a similar trend in year one (which probably is also true for Marshall). Gotta hope he can turn it around. Will have roughly 7 Top 100 games the rest of the year (based on todays KP rankings)

            2. We have athletes, not shooters.
            3. We need a rim protector who protects the rim.
            4. Yeah, we were out-coached.
            5. The Cats ain't very good.
            6. MK is a homer, but we got jobbed.
            7. Cortes is fun to watch.
            8. 500 is a reasonable goal.
            9. No, KP did NOT have big-time offers while in the portal. No.
            10. We will never sell out the Roundhouse this year.
You forgot we have no upper body strength outside of XB, who could’ve played D1 football. Didn’t you say we haven’t had biceps since KR left? I get Mills want his own guy, but bring Kerry back in Emeritus status.

From what I understand ORU is close to an impossible place to coach. It’s hard to evaluate what happens there. I mean, look at Self when he was there. Wasn’t exactly the powerhouse he is now.

I do think Mills can probably pull it together eventually here. But it’s gotta be fast, and it’s gotta be with way better pieces than what we have now or committed so far. Have to be winning.

We have two of our highest rated recruits in the modern era committed right now, it’s not getting much better than that.

Nothing against the recruits but it will be tough to compete for AAC championships if we can't land a couple of experienced portal players each year.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

I definitely agree, but he said recruits signed right now. We have the best possible (realistic) outcome of guys signed right now, IMO. Still 4 months away from the portal

Sorry, no knock against them. But high school recruits aren’t known for being immediate impact, and in this era where anybody’s eligible whenever they want to be, I really struggle to see the point of recruiting high school unless they’re gonna be hot out the gate. Portal really seems the best way to get old and stay old now.

that doesn’t diminish how excited I am to have them, but am really worried about NIL opponents coming in and offering them half a mil to leave to Texas or somewhere. mean, I’d say yes lol

                        • Cortes performed just about the way I remember him from last year as a PG who averaged 3 points and 2 assists on a losing team. So, he basically hit his average.

It was a bit of a surprise (not pleasantly either), and reach, when he was signed. I do believe that the PG signed from Texas will be good for WSU, someday...

This first showing was very much a good, good, bad, bad, good, good, bad, bad back and forth performance. I'm hopeful that Mills can find a way to harness more good than bad out of him. He appears to be the polar opposite of Bell in many ways. They weren't able to get Bell and Cortes on the floor at the same time vs KSU due to fouls, but I'm hopeful a line up with Cortes, Bell, Rogers, Beverly and one of Pohto or Ballard might open up some interesting offensive schemes since Cortes seems much more willing to dish. Bell is a slasher, and Rogers is the shooter, then Beverly getting everything in between.

                              • Missouri is not good but they beat us. K-State is not good but they beat us. South Dalota State? Really? KU will name the score; it will be however bad Self wants it to be.
