You're not giving Evansville enough credit. That shouldn't need a translation.
Of all the things worth posting about in the thread… he gets riled up by an Evansville blurb. Wow.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Definitely a giant step above last year in coaching. Need to work on three point shooting, defending the three point shot and making free throws if we want to finish in the top half of the conference this year (which I believe we can). Defense was pretty good, except for allowing too many open three point attempts. A good three point shooting team may have beaten us. Players were engaged and played with pretty good teamwork. Lack of a true point guard is going to be an issue unless someone can step up as our go-to ball handler.
Overall, not great expectations for this year unless Bijan is eligible for the Spring semester. Question - if Bijan becomes eligible for the spring semester, as a junior, it seems he will have all of next season and only the fall semester of 25-26 - is that right?
A couple more games and we should have an idea as to where this team is headed this year.

The average in the game was 98 db, the exposure limit at that level is ~ 30 minutes. So anybody not wearing hearing protection, came away with some hearing loss.

Pleasantly surprised, as I am sure most on here are, with the game last night. What a difference a coach with an actual offensive and defensive scheme can make. Much more enjoyable game to watch.
Guard play was above average with Bell and Rogers. Only 10 TO's. Bell with a 5/1 A to TO ratio.
Way more alarming than the guard play was our bigs (supposed strength) inability to finish at the rim on easy shots. Particularly Pohto.
51 to 33 rebounding margin is outstanding. The hustle on the boards was great to see. Reminded me of some FHCGM teams.
All around great defensive game. Perimeter, help side, and on ball defense was really good. Forgot what a beauty it is to watch a team that is engaged.
Abidde was impressive off the bench.
Rogers is who I thought he was, and that is a good thing.
The three point shooting has to improve and I think it will. Chaulk it up to first game jitters / adrenaline.
Need to work on breaking zone defense.
Overall, it was just one game against an inferior opponent, but a good start to the season.

Yes it affected both sides ... but our team is what it is and is likely 99% going to be missing all 3 of those scholarship players the entire year. The reason to point out that Lipscomb is missing its best player is to understand how to gauge the performance towards future performances. So when you look at where Lipscomb was projected to be this year, you have to take it down a few notches to understand exactly who we faced last night. The fact that we are missing 3 players that we will continue to miss the entire year is irrelevant when trying to adjust expectations for this year based on last nights performance.

Of course, that was an 18 point win over SMU, not a 17 point win over Lipscomb, so the similarities ended there.
