      • Wow. A whole 12 minutes. Good job everyone. What a great way to build excitement.

I've compiled a short list of 5 things I could do in 12 minutes or less that all seem like a more productive use of my time.

        1. Clean fridge out
        2. Empty the dishwasher and put in the dirty ones.
        3. Clean the cat box (and I don't have a cat).
        4. Pull out all the loose change in the couches
        5. Go to Quick Trip and buy a Slurpee with the loose change.

Seriously. Fitting 20 minutes or more without a running clock (45+ minutes) AND having a Shocker Madness program for men and women in the same night would be impossible.

              Story:
The annual Shocker Madness event has received a makeover that will turn it into an athletic department-wide event on Saturday.

              • "The only drawback to the new-look Shocker Madness is the decrease of basketball events. There will be no 3-point or dunk contests this year and the intrasquad scrimmages for the women’s and men’s basketball teams have been trimmed to 12 minutes with a running clock — hardly enough to satisfy basketball-hungry Shocker fans curious to see as much of the teams under first-year coaches in Paul Mills and Terry Nooner as possible.

But WSU is betting that sacrifice will be worth it to improve the overall experience."

                Nope.

                • It's been marketed as an "extended scrimmage", and it absolutely isn't. Just the opposite of past scrimmages. Not cool.

                  • That certainly frees up my Saturday evening. This is more of a free rap concert for visiting recruits than an effort to show off the basketball teams. 12 minutes of "let's show everybody what our teammates can do when we don''t guard them" basketball is hardly woth the 15 minute drive to get there.

I can't remember the last Shocker Madness I missed. Probably some time during the Turgeon era.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

                    • Our AD has apparently went to a lot of effort to make this event more appealing than the past. IMHO, we show up tonight and see what the total product is. If afterwards we determine more time needs to be spent on scrimmages, then it’s brought up for a proposed change for next year. Saal has proven he listens to the fans. Let’s take a look first, though.

                      again, just my opinion.

                        • Was really looking forward to this but now I’m out. Don’t appreciate being lied to by the AD and finding out that it was a lie in the paper a day before the event.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

                          • I’m going to the Holy War in which Kapaun has a great chance to break their 1,000 game losing streak to Carroll.

                            • I’d ideally like more than 12 running minutes too, but will likely go. I may get skewered for this, but I blame Title 9.

It could have been SNL or perhaps In Living Color (how brilliant was that show?). It was a couple of "old" rappers lamenting how nobody "today" was rapping about getting good grades, or going to bed on time or wearing clean underwear. If I had to guess, the skit is 25-35 years ago.

Wherever that skit exists, you sir were brilliant.
SNL. Rap Street. Horatio Sanz and the aptly named Jerry Minor. Mena Suvari KILLS and I mean captures the very essence of a young Aaron Carter. NBC has pulled all clips since his death but it was an all time great skit.
