Also, this is in no way a knock on Armchair or Paladin. Just the reality of the battle they are fighting.

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, but what am I missing here?

Would someone please draw me a picture?

At least Ross and I didn't have to worry about this kinda $hit back in our day.

Yes. Common sense would tell me otherwise.

If the market for top AAC or MVC baseball players on each team is six-figures - then we’re probably talking 8-figures for top-end basketball and football talent at big schools.

If you know that maybe the best final-four bound Miami basketball player was making 500 K and Ricky Council is making 250… I’m not buying Indiana State having multiple 6 figure baseball players.

But again, shrug. I am not going to pretend like I know. I don’t.

Just thought I was done for the evening. Isn’t 8 figures $10 million (mm)? I can’t imagine any college player making that. Yikes! What we need is someone (or someones) to donate $10mm; surely that would get us off to a competitive start? Seriously, I’m thinking we we need $50mm in the coffers to be competitive. Use the annual (monthly) income off the $50mm and continue to grow the NIL endowment to $100mm in 10 years. Set lofty goals and shoot for the stars. Damn, I need another beer.

We need an athletic endowment. This is the way.

And to include NIL donations as Points for SASO. Some might buy tickets, others don’t live where tickets are feasible. Allow them to earn points for post season etc.

I know they are consolidating the fundraising to one big bash; which could turn out to be the event of the year in town (time will tell).

Would that stop individual teams from hosting something like a “Donor/Supporter Appreciation Dinner/Night”?

Where each program can invite their top boosters as a “thank you” for your support and if they just happen to donate $$$ to the program at said dinner, then that’s just a bonus?

That could be a way to have their big gala and each program can make their specific contributors feel special.

The best recent deal we can look at is Hunter Dickenson. He said he made less than $100k at Michigan and allegedly got around $4M from KU. Kentucky was unwilling to give him the NIL money upfront, so we have to assume KU essentially bought him for a very large upfront payment. Not sure how all this is legal under the alleged NIL policy, but it seems there are no rules. If Michigan was unwilling to pay that kind of dough, it goes to show that not all P5 are throwing unlimited money at everyone.

I feel like DSB throws crap around just to see if he can actually get unsuspecting people to believe it.

I believe this is one thing that the new Oklahoma law allows the schools there to do. I don't think by the general NIL rules, you can do it, but they made it illegal for the NCAA to punish their schools for doing it.

I visited with a couple of KU guys that are usually in the know. They said the "allegedly" $4mm is...

P.S. They can't keep up with 'SEC' football money and Bill Self is even making personal calls to add to their NIL coffers.

This. I do not believe the figures DSB gave for other schools. Unless I can see some sort of facts its all just conjecture.

Six figures can include supporting a partial scholarship or fulliy replacing one which could be worth anywhere from $40-70k a year. Remember baseball only gets 11.7 per team for a 30 player roster.

A decade or so ago, Missouri State was selling cows to keep their athletic department afloat. Now they have donors putting up hundreds of thousands of dollars for baseball players? After their main benefactor passed away? I wouldn't believe that place throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at a few FB players. Baseball players? That's less likely than a Bigfoot sighting on campus.
