That's correct. FHCIB will get the full severance amount no matter where he's employed. It just depends on who is paying how much of it.

      • If I was a fan of Charlotte...it might bother me if my team (Charlotte) hired a head coach and paid him less than market value. Wouldn't give me the warm fuzzy's that my team (Charlotte) was trying become a good basketball program in their new AAC conference.

Not just less than market value, but "pennies on the dollar". Not a sign they are investing in basketball.

They just did this in football with Biff Poggi, but that was because he is a multi-millionaire who doesn't need the money and it allowed them to spend more on assistants. IB is a good recruiter, and his Xs and Os were improving, but I'm not sure his ceiling is much higher than the NIT at a school like Charlotte.

If I was IB, I wouldn't take that either.

Offer me what you think I'm actually worth. Don't try to get a discount because someone else is footing the bill.

Yea .. but if he's smart he just has them back load the contract based on a market value averaged contract

Understand what your saying but not sure IB has a ton of leverage considering a scenario to return to AAC. That would be a lot higher level than what I would have guessed his next entry point would be...I was thinking SWAC, Southland type of job.

Dude! If they can land Kowalczyk that would be a huge get.
