He needs to bring in 3 or 4 grad transfers to even be competitive next year. Then, we get the same excuse of it taking 3 months for them to get used to playing together. He's lost the fan base and donors. Even under a best case next year, I don't see him winning enough next year to bring them back. Then, he gets fired for sure. So, might as well do it now.
I bet you are just a hit at parties.

Not true. Potentially, we have Rogers, who was not "allowed" to play and recruit/signed SF Myles. But you are right about the PG position.

I am finding that familiar comfort in sports misery, cheering for the bastard step child that lives in the closet under the steps. Bear with me, going from a top ten program to this in a faster decline than the 1929 crash is an adjustment, but I’m getting there.

Iff IB is NOT retained, someone explain how the team is going to not be worse next year. We still lose Rojas and Porter, there's no one on the roster to fill those spots and there's no one signed. We still don't have a D1 point guard on the roster. If he's not retained the new coach has to start his recruiting from absolute ground zero, but that's the way of the world with the portal. Then we get the same excuse of it taking 3 months for them to get used to playing together.

Whether IB stays or leaves, next year depends totally on who can be brought in out of the portal. Signing a bunch of HS players is suicidal unless you're getting 4* or better guys. A hire like Jerome Tang is something like a once in a lifetime hire, not at a school, but in the entire D1. A first year head coach in the running for NCOY is way past rare.

I'm not advocating for keeping IB. Some posters have pointed out the difficulty with terminating IB this year. That doesn't mean those posters want IB as the permanent HC, which some posters are implying.

All it takes to fire IB next week is a million or 2 a year that the athletic department doesn't have. All it takes to buy a Lamboghini is a couple hundred thousand laying around that you don't need. If you ain't got the scratch it don't matter how bad you want the thing you can't have.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

he is a AAC coach of the year - does not matter who is team is, he will them “coach up”

If there is perceived progress, they are not going to get rid of the coach. The media is calling the Houston 17 point loss as one of the most “competitive losses” they have seen. Some even think it was moral victory that wsu was leading at some point in the game.

Missouri basketball's Dennis Gates was voted USA Today's SEC coach of the year, while Kobe Brown earned first-team All-SEC honors

Thought some of you might like this article. His name isn't Jerome Tang, but he did pretty well for a first-year coach,

I don't think perceived progress next season would fetch him a second contract. I'm not sure NIT appearance next season would mean a second contract. My point being, if he's back next season then the binary decision will need to be made a year from now whether to resign him to a second contract or not That is a much different decision than whether to currently buy him out. A second contract means ADKS believes he's the long term answer. While retaining him for next season doesn't mean that at all.

Ever notice how moral victories are claimed by the losers? True 100% of all moral victories.

Very rational. "Put up, or shut up..."

Dennis Gates, to a slightly lesser extent, basically did the same thing. I think it's hard to be competitive in year one, but not impossible with the portal.

What the list of Major jobs open that we would be competing against for candidates?

                              Right now I think its:
                              Texas
                              Texas Tech
                              Notre Dame
                              Ole Miss

                              Any others?

I wonder if any of them will be looking at HCIB?

He is a proven coach now. He was the AAC coach of the year, and according to some is doing a great job navigating the difficult waters of WSU. I would expect him to at least get some calls - right?
