And there are plenty of examples out there of coaches who flamed out at a P5 team who then did much better in a conference outside the big 5.

On the other hand, it is also reasonable to think that the perception is that Turgeon may be the guy we think we can "get" right now. If Isaac Brown stayed one more year and the buyouts were lower on his contract, maybe that would open up the prospective field to someone who may put more butts in seats immediately.

It's also a question regarding how peoples' priorities and standards have changed over the last 15 years. Turgeon was a guy who, by the time he left, had Koch arena selling out regularly. There's no reason to think he can't have WSU being at least as good as it was when he was last here, so if he doesn't put butts in seats, is it the fans' standards that have changed, or are they just happy watching the games from home and spending their dollars elsewhere?
That’s an interesting take on attendance. People can now watch every game on some channel and stay home. I.know my wife enjoys watching at home vs actually attending a home game. Perhaps there is a significant number that chooses that option rather than a SASO donation and parking and leaving the game

I personally find it very difficult to guess what will happen what I don't know about the situation exceeds what I do know and probably by a lot especially when weighted by importance to the situation.

But maybe ADKS will follow the mass of Americans who believe that you should live within your means even if you have to borrow to do it.

36 years with Season Tickets. It will be 37 whether or not IB is the coach. If there is a coaching change, the new coach might have to accept a back ended but guaranteed money contract. Stranger things have happened.

If you put out an exciting product, people will come to see it live.

I just wonder if it would work in this hiring cycle. Maybe he would do it, but maybe he wouldn't. I know that his son still being in high school is a factor.
He still has a kid in high school? Where is Mark's whereabouts right now?

Family still in DC area. Oldest son is GA for Tad Boyle at Colorado. Daughter just started her freshman year of college, also in Boulder. In perfect world, I think Mark and Ann would like to get youngest son through high school before deciding next step. Mark certainly doesn't need the money since he made seven-digits for 15 seasons (and still gets paid from Maryland, I think).

I think the coaching change/no change groups are really about 50%/50%. The HCIB supporters know that if they can just get him another year into a much weaker AAC, it should get even harder to part way with him.

All I want to hear by Sunday is Mr. Brown has left the building.

Ah, I wondered why I saw some social media/mainstream media attacks on Kelsey Grammer. You can ****ing set your watch to it these days.

Not necessarily. If he's retained then soon it will be a decision whether to extend or move on. That is a much greater obstacle.

If IB is retained, someone explain to how the team is going to not be worse next year. We lose Rojas and Porter and there's no one on the roster to fill those spots, and no one signed. We don't have a D1 point guard on the roster other than Porter. If he is retained, he's still on the hot seat so that will be used against him in every recruiting battle. He needs to bring in 3 or 4 grad transfers to even be competitive next year. Then, we get the same excuse of it taking 3 months for them to get used to playing together. He's lost the fan base and donors. Even under a best case next year, I don't see him winning enough next year to bring them back. Then, he gets fired for sure. So, might as well do it now.

I don't disagree with you .. but the answer to your question of how it wont be worse is the same thing that has ravaged us before ... the portal. IF he can maintain the team and IF he can hit a couple home runs in the portal. The product on the floor could be better, but its unlikely and it wont fix all the other parts of the job that are not doing well.

Well at this point last year you had never heard of Walton, Rojas or Pierre and they have turned out to be decent. If we added three players of that level to those coming back we could be OK. but I'd take one outstanding point guard over anything else
