I held my nose and read that article and he has about half the coaches in the nation on the hot seat.

I'm sure playing hard for 30 game min, then sitting for 7-8 game minutes only to be thrown back into the game against an energized press isn't easy on the legs.

      • I don't have a problem with the subs playing, and in fact they should. But you gotta have a leash on 'em. Abidde jacking it up every time he touched the ball? No. And Pierre wasn't much better. Get a TO and tell them to settle down and play for the good shot like they'd been doing most of the game. If they don't wanna do that, set 'em back down! Letting a 21+ point lead dwindle down to 8 or 9 against this team was embarrassing and unnecessary.

        • Wholesale deep bench subs suck when your team isn't deep. Better to let your 8th and 9th players get used to playing with starters (or more accurately your best five or so). That's the only way you can develop them by year end. Tossing them in with 10th and 11th makes them look bad and is demotivating.

This team has been playing really good basketball until high leverage situations. They just need to find a guy that wants the ball against a late game press… that can also can the free throws.
So coaching only matters in the first 35 minutes of games?

            • We are playing much better team basketball but the fact remains we just don't have much depth. KP becoming a well rounded player with above average court vision and passing ability. JR has really elevated his all around game.

That's not what I did. Post I responded to said he showed zero ability until mid season. That wasn't accurate at all. But feel free to take things out of context.

                • Could you imagine TP playing IBall? I might pay to see that.

                  • Imo, if a coach is asking his players to put/play a full “40 minute” game, it shouldn’t be too much to ask that the players, administrators, fans also ask that the coach, “coach” for 40 minutes as well. IB thru it into cruise control the last ~5 minutes or so, and it nearly cost him the game.

                    • Agree with the sentiments on the subs. There is a game plan and subs should be held to the same standards in executing the offense and defense. After Scott had the 2nd turnover in a row, you pull him out. After someone jacks up a contested 3, you pull him out. The final 30 seconds don;’t matter, but there was way too much time left to start playing playground ball.

                      • The bench came in and tried to make their transfer tape highlights.

                        • With that kind of bench to practice against, you can see another reason why the starters have had a struggle this season.

                          • If you have to put the starters back in, you have coached badly.
