  • Bottom line is that we only have four decent players and that isn't changing this season. Things could get much worse next season.

You know the answer to this question. That was our Super Bowl last night. And probably IB’s only chance to try and salvage himself another year.

Its definitely possible Tulsa picks up their second conference victory on Sunday.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

You don't know that. Did you think we'd have a "Walton" at this point last year?

That was a really big game for JW last night. Really big. So the real question is: Do you think we will have a Walton next year?

Noone knows from year to year, There are always surprises, as well as, disappointments. I know there are quite a few holes to fill next season and a lot of crap shoots forth coming. Right now, I have little faith in the returning roster next season outside of KP and JW if we are able to keep them.

                • I'd trade the entire roster outside of KP and JW for a great point guard. That with the addition of Rogers and a new coach would give me hope

Despite his limitations, he's the only guard on the bench athletic enough to deal with Houston

I'd keep Abidde. He shows some promise as 6'9" Fr.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Houston would’ve ate his lunch, stole his dinner money, taken the clothes off his back and then sent him home.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

                          • (Generally) We, as fans, have been critical for much of the season. Praise is absolutely due after last night's game, to the entire program.

The kids played their asses off. Fought for and won more than their fair share of 50/50 balls (and that rarely happens vs Houston).

Houston took the lead at 11-12 and I thought "ok, nice fight early but here comes the beating". Ok, 7-0 run for the good guys. Awesome reply. (Also could have finished a fast break which would have brought the house down and maybe forced a 2nd UH first half timeout).

Defensive schemes, preparation, execution and effort was off the charts. I mean not even in the same room as good. Excellent job by the staff and players.

Completely ready for the monster double. Again, excellent. And remember, against a HOF coach.

IB the better dressed of the 2 coaches.

Winning loose balls gets my heart pumping. Not sure if that's a good thing at my age, but man I enjoyed that.

More than one here has mentioned that we just didn't have the players on the bench to compete with UH. Correct. We aren't deep enough to compete with a top 5 club for 40 minutes with our bench guys. But you know what? Our first 5 can give a top 5 team one hell of a battle.

IB called a 30 early when XB got a 3 blocked and then was torched on the other end right after. I thought he was tough but remained positive. He needed XB with Walton on the bench with 2 fouls. Xavier settled down and was solid the rest of the way.

Went 2 for 1 at the end of the half. Lobbed to Kenny for a basket, gave up a deflection (really good D, just unlucky) for a dunk, then Porter got a good look that he couldn't finish then didn't get anything on the out of bounds play. Not the greatest, but (especially for us) pretty darned good. And a great way to control the game (and hopefully learn from down the road).

These guys have seen some success on occasion because of something unusual (high 3% etc) but last night it was all EFFORT and execution. That is repeatable.

The banked 3 in the 2nd half may very well have saved Houston's bacon. Great teams do make their own luck.

                            This changes nothing.

I felt terrible for the guys (especially, but also the coaches) after the game because that effort deserves a result. I hope they are able to take away that effort like that is repeatable and WILL turn into positive results if they maintain it. Bench players can and will be effective against teams not competing for National Championship.

Others have also mentioned that Sunday is a potential powder keg. You can literally see anything happening. I just hope they play that hard again.

                              • Keep building strength, stronger bodies, and endurance. We need that type of player. Cincinnati had those bodies 3-5 years ago. Houston has had them for awhile. We've got to be physical to compete. At times, we are...but, we need the bodies to continue doing that throughout a game.
