      Don't blame him. It's a big decision.

Jank signed a 5 year extension a few weeks ago that didn't go reported until yesterday. Jank's current contract at ISU is 5-7 years at $447k a year.

I saw some talk about that Friday on Redbirdfans. It's nice to see ISU up the pay some. I would be interested in how high they could go for the right guy. When Jank leaves, it'd be nice if they could start someone closer to what Jank is getting paid now. And I'd hope they'd have the ability to up that if needed. I don't know what the financial situation there is, but I'd love to see ISU competitive on the court and be able to hang on to coaches. I understand not everyone can pay what WSU and CU do, but better pay will help keep coaches around a little longer.

I'm curious what other teams in the Valley could afford to pay their coach 750k or more.

That's the only one I can come up with. Even with the poor play the past few years, they've drawn fairly well and I think the money is there if success comes their way.

There's no way Evansville or Drake can do it. UNI is probably about tapped out as it is with Jake. I'm not sure what he's making but I believe it's less than 500k. MSU can't or won't. I'm leaning towards can't. ISUb I don't think has it in them. They would need a lot of success to rebuild their fanbase to the point where they make enough. SIU apparently could, but won't for quite some time as it really hurt them.

That's not really a good sign for the conference as a whole. Teams replacing coaches every 5 or so years makes it very difficult to maintain any kind of success or to build momentum to build the fanbase and increase recruiting.

I think the money might be available at drake if the alumni were willing to pony it up. I think some success would have to help that process along though.

I went back and read some articles from last year to see what Geno Ford makes at Bradley. They reported $700k with $200k in incentives. I have no idea if he met any incentives. Obviously, if they were tied to wins and losses, he did not. However, there weren't any off the court issues and the guy was all over the town making apperances last year.

I think ISU would pony up more if they had a coached that they loved. Jankovich is light years ahead of Richardson & Moser, but he isn't Stallings, Bender or Donawald.

That tells me that Bradley could offer in the same range as CU and WSU. If Ford is getting 700k+ right off the bat, I believe if he turns things around and they have success that he'll push seven figures.

I'd like to believe that ISU could pony up the bucks. And I understand if they don't think Jank is worth it, but I'm not sold that they can.

It doesn't help that SIU ponied up and got burned.

The last several posts illustrate an obvious fact. The MVC schools with FB have broke athletic departments.
