The non-con home schedule is weak but the overall non-con is fine. WSU will play 6-7 teams projected to be in the top 125 per Bart Torvik. Here is where the top non-con opponents are ranked:

    31. Oklahoma State - Home
    42. Kansas State - Away
    49. Missouri - Home
    87. San Francisco - Neutral (potential opponent based on KC tournament outcome)
    104. Longwood - Home
    105. Richmond - Away
    107. Grand Canyon - Neutral

That’s an average of 75 and a median of 87.

Great, now I feel like we are going to lose most of these.

RH: Roundhouse Podcast With Basketball Assistant Butch Pierre

Shocker assistant Butch Pierre joins the podcast to get fans ready for basketball season.

He discusses practices and why he thinks the Shockers will score more this season, and the talents of newcomer Jaykwon Walton. He reminisces about his exposure to Shocker basketball in 2006 and 2007 when he coached at LSU and his impression of the "unbelievable" atmosphere in Koch Arena. We also talk about playing in the SEC against Charles Barkley and Dominique Wilkins, a recruiting trip to Houston on a private plane and his love for fishing.

Norlander/Parrish previewed the AAC conference last week on their podcast. They said this would probably be the last year of doing a preview of the AAC. After this year they believe AAC will no longer be a major conference and will be just a 1 bid league. They have the AAC as either a 2 or 3 bid league this year.

They had WSU finishing somewhere between 7 to 9 based on logic. But said if HCIB is actually the guy they will need to overachieve expectations or risk becoming irrelevant.

Shockers Picked by AAC Coaches to Finish 8th

Wichita State enters the 2022-23 season as a hunter, picked eighth out of 11 teams in American Athletic Conference preseason men's basketball poll, which was released Wednesday morning ahead of the league's two-day virtual media day event.

American Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll:
            First-Place votes in parenthesis

            1. Houston (10) – 100
            2. Memphis (1) – 87
            3. Cincinnati – 82
            4. Tulane – 74
            5. Temple – 66
            6. UCF – 51
            7. SMU – 43
            8. Wichita State – 35
            9. South Florida – 33
            10. Tulsa – 21

Not surprising since the team is going through pretty much a total rebuild.

Hard to argue until we see the product on the floor.

Might be even harder to argue then.
