I have to say, I agree with the sentiment that it shouldn't have been allowed to go on the entire match. The people around him should have heckled his ass out of the gym and been made to fear for his own safety.

True. But you didn't make your point in an unhinged fashion so you didn't earn any gifs. Try again!

You encouraging and endorsing Shocktocles posting style kinda turns my stomach.

Not if they agree with his opinions but are just too cowardly to chime in. It is Utah after all.

Despite what the internet leads many to believe, most people aren't all that confrontational.

Coaches doing crowd control? That's an interesting way for the Athletic Department to save a little money.

Didn't Turgeon have to address the crowd one game? It's not unprecedented to happen in some cases.

I know Gregg did. TCU. 2009-10 season. Students were chanting “These refs suck.” I think officials told him to do it, so he just said something to the effect of “We don’t do that here.” It kinda lit a fire into the rest of the crowd though.

Of course, the two most legendary coach-crowd interactions were Billy Tubbs (Regardless of how terrific the officiating is…) and Sam Wyche (You don’t live in Cleveland!). Doc should approve of these two memories.

I approve both of those moments. Tubbs was fantastic.

                        For WHAT???

I think Mark did once as well, but I can't remember any specifics. Of course, his best tirade was blowing up during an SIU game when nobody on the court or in the stands gave a damn. Watching his head bob side to side as he got more and more animated the louder the crowd became was an unforgettable and special moment.

From what the AD said, it sounded like it was one student who made him/herself known to that black player(s) (probably when they were close by the student section. Who informed the coaches that a student was saying racist things? Did the coaches know exactly what was going on? Did the officials tell the coaches? The players heard it, but did others who were in charge?

If the coaches were doing their job, concentrating on their team, would they hear one student? Now if a group of students are chanting, or if the officials tell the coach that racist taunts are occurring, then the coaches should go over to the student, and tell them to shut up, or tell the crowd control person in charge to kick them out.

The most likely situation is that someone was in charge of monitoring the small crowd, and parking themselves by the student section would be a smart move. They dropped the ball, and the AD needs to do something about it.

Interesting article today whereas the Duke player confirmed the BYU AD personally met with her. She commented he was extremely genuine and apologetic and she said he was as sincere as humanly possible. She also commented she was more than satisfied with the BYU administration response and wants the entire situation behind her.
The situation was handled by adults, in an adult manner.

Of course Shocktesticles jumps the gun, points the finger, makes some sophomoric comments (as usual) and continues his long tradition of looking like total shiithead.

Well done again shiithead. Well done.

                            That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

Apparently, there is thought this was either a hoax, or the player misheard. There have been no corroborating statements. Students who were there say they heard nothing. The security guard standing in front of the students heard nothing. The person they escorted out and banned wasn't even in the student section during the 2nd set when the player says she heard the slur. Authorities are asking anyone who heard them to step forward and so far, nada.

If true, I jumped the gun on blaming BYU fans and staff for allowing something to go on that may not have happened. That's what I get for assuming the incident had been confirmed.
