I kind of debated about which thread to post the whole thing in. The actions of the guy who took the ball definitely belong in the other thread. They don't show it in the video, but he had a couple jerseys he tried to give the kid to make up for taking the ball. The jerseys were for pitcher Sam Gaviglio, who appeared in 4 games for the Royals in 2017 (https://www.kansascity.com/sports/sp...265054199.html). They were probably on sale at the ballpark :) But given the outcome and the good job of the Royals and Padres of taking care of the fan, I decided to put the post in this thread instead.

Yes. He's a junior. Was the starting quarterback last year as a sophomore. Got the hell beat of him last year. He is built more like a fullback/linebacker but he has decent speed. He also has a good arm but is on the short side for a quarterback. They thought about moving him to running back this year but decided against it for now. Just learned that one of their starting offensive linemen is out with a torn patellar tendon. I don't have a good feeling about this but I will be there and we will see how it goes. Not a lot depth in their boys sports at Pretty Prairie. Not sure if he will play both ways tonight or not. Last year he did not play him both ways because they couldn't afford to get him hurt, although he still had his share of injuries.

I think you picked wisely. Sometimes you can have good guys unless you have a bad guy or two.

That's not good news. I don't know what to expect from CCS's D-line (or O-line, for that matter), so maybe he won't be in too bad of shape. CCS also has a junior QB who started last year.

Good luck tonight! I hope it's a well-played game on both sides!

Last year at Central Christion was one of the lower scoring 8-man affairs you will see but it was a very exciting game and IIRC CCS scored a late touchdown on a long pass play with about 30 seconds to go in the game to pull to within 1 but Pretty Prairie stopped the 2-point conversion attempt to preserve the win. They don't beat CCS very often.

I love 8-man football, as my school had that. We had some epic showdowns with Pretty Prairie 20-25 years ago. In my freshman year, we had a classic 8-man shootout where we won 52-50.

To prove this point, South Carolina has cancelled the women's game against BYU because of the alleged incident.
If even one of SC fans make a single racist comment, I hope every team cancels their games with SC.
                  it's really getting rediculous.

At the KC tournament WSU played BYU I think in late 2012. I sat near a BYU couple that screamed "COUGAR" approximately 157 thousand times (and was by far not the only BYU fan to do so). It would not take much to miss hear that, especially if you've been subjected to it in your lifetime. I offer this only as a possibility.

The grandmother of the player (I think it was the grandmother that immediately went to social media to start the fire) is a confirmed racist however and that is not debatable.

I played in 1 eight man game at Inman. I believe the final was 7-2. I set a school record at the time. Not proud of it either.

It was a good, hard fought game on a great evening (could actually had used a little more breeze) with Pretty Prairie hanging on for a 44-34 win. Central Christian played much cleaner football, but Pretty Prairie had more big plays.

My grandson played quarterback and middle linebacker (how about that for a combination but that's what you get sometimes in 8-man, especially the smalller schools). He played well I thought but he took a beating. He was pretty good as a sophomore last year so I think he kind of has a target on his back. He was exhausted and beat up by he end of the game with a pretty swollen left hand. Hopefully, that is not too serious but we will see.

Pretty Prairie had far more penalties than did Central Christian but were able to overcome them. And that's not a complaint about the officiating. As far as I could tell the official did a good job. Central Christian did get a sideline warning on a play where they were gang tacking my grandson on the Central Christian sideline but no penalty was assessed. I found out this morning that the warning had to do with one of the CCS assistants yelling at his players to go for my grandson's knees and take him out of the game. I was shocked that only a warning was given and not an ejection and a 15-yard penalty. If that is what actually took place that is just unacceptable at any level. Whether or not officials heard any of that I don't know. That's the story from my grandson.

My other grandson made his varsity debut as a very raw and inexperienced sophomore, starting quarterback for Southeast. Fortunately, they played North who is not very good so he wasn't in over his head. Southeast won that one playing at Northwest 24-7. From all accounts and a few videos sent my way he apparently played a very solid, clean game.

Wow. If the investigation doesn't find any wrong doing, have the S.C. school and athletic department set themselves up for a defamation lawsuit?

Unlikely to win a lawsuit, don't you think? It was reported in the media as a factual incident and the president even announced the incident, so it has to be true ...right?

I think that the events that you said the media reported as fact is why lawyers advise their media clients to use the word “alleged” before the reported incident as protection from a possible lawsuit.

Some of you guys can conduct a Kangaroo court with the best of them.
There is the fact that after having a long conversation with the athlete, the BYU AD believed her completely.

I obviously don't know what was or wasn't said but the way in which some of you arrive at your preferred conclusions is entertaining and interesting to say the least.
