  • KMUW - Boatright to receive remainder of salary - $300K - after being fired by Wichita State

Wichita State’s former Athletic Director Darron Boatright will receive the remainder of his salary as part of a separation agreement with the university.

According to the agreement released Friday, Boatright will be paid $300,000 in equal installments of more than $11,000 every two weeks until June 2023.

The university did not give a specific reason for firing Boatright this month. But President Rick Muma said in a statement that there were significant, ongoing concerns he thought could not be addressed.

    • Yeah, there probably wasn't a way in getting around this at this point. The way around it would have been to never give him the contract to begin with. But that ship had sailed.

He needed to be gone. But probably not much else to do from a legal standpoint.

      • The department was going to lose a lot more than that keeping him around.

          • There's an article on kansas.com regarding the separation agreement and it includes the actual agreement. Here's a direct link to the agreement in case anyone is interested in reading it - https://drive.google.com/file/d/17tk...ZzFMTXiUm/view
