At NO time in the history of college athletics has a non-bcs mens basketball coach turned down multiple 2 million dollar plus jobs to coach bcs programs. NEVER has a WSU coach even turned ONE down.

Say what you will about Gregg, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but at this point he deserves your respect for his loyalty to and belief in WSU.

In fact, at this point in time, he COMMANDS it.
We are fortunate to have Coach and he knows he is appreciated.

I'm not sure Nebraska has enough money to buy Marshall away from here.

He has been pretty clear about his criteria for leaving. Just a few weeks ago he spoke about the conversation he had with his wife, whether to put down stakes and stay for several more years until the kids were out of school or consider other offers. He said they decided it would be a week to week, day to day thing.... I am convinced of only one thing. That he has his requirements and he wont' settle for anything less. That says a lot about HCGM, and a lot about what he has here, and what it will take to get him to walk away from it.

Translated: He could jump ship at any moment.

That's unfortunate. I was hoping he had a stronger commitment to WSU. It appears his commitment is to his criteria for leaving. Perhaps the only difference between Turgeon and Marshall is that Marshall is more honest and drives a harder bargain. Considering my allegiance to WSU, it's going to take a lot more than turning down a couple BCS whipping boys to demand respect from me.

For the right job, I am sure that is the case. For the right job. With the kind of numbers being thrown around, it would be hard not to listen and strongly consider an opportunity like Illinois, or better, if contacted.

Just this morning, Seth Davis, on the Dan Patrick show said "two million is the new 1 million." I think that tells you what WSU will be up against if the right offer comes HCGM's way... I think what WSU gives him regarding the total package of money, fans support, facilities and other perks sets the bar high, but for the right program, the bar is not as high as we would like it to be...

I would hardly call NC State a "whipping boy". They are in the S16. He obviously loves WSU or he would have bolted last year.

$2,000,000.00 is a lot of money. If he were to leave for that - I would not hold it against him unless we were able to match the offer.

I understand that message boards are for conversations like the ones we've been having here. I also understand that all this speculation, and until we hear something, it is nothing MORE than speculation, is driving us all BatWu crazy. Coach Marshall has been fantastic for our program and our university, and can continue to be fantastic for us, if HE so chooses. At this point I think we're all just guessing. I'm going to go with "No news is good news" thinking from here on out.

"The biggest mistake is that everybody tries to project their own feelings and own thoughts and own values into what you think a guy should do,'' said Few. "It comes down to what that individual person wants in life.
"The only people that matter is the coach and the family and what they want and value and where they're at in life,'' said Few. "Do you want to pack up and move young kids, kids in junior high, high school? That's where it becomes an individual choice and situation.''

Question: Is it more difficult for a guy making $10/hour to find a $20/hour job, or for a
                      $1,000,000/yr coach to land a $2,000,000/yr job?

I don't think he'd take Nebraska for $10 million. Who wants to be at the 2nd best basketball school in a state with two schools, and be the 11th best team in the Big 10?

Nebraska is denying there was no offer extended to Marshall.

denying no offer extended - so that means an offer was extended, right?

It depends on the guys job performance. Many more $20 an hour jobs available than $2M jobs.
