No way someone (even Boatright himself) didn't see this coming. There was plenty of noise here on ShockerNet and elsewhere about this billboard going up that somebody would've informed him. Somebody's who "paying attention" coulda, shoulda, woulda intervened and threatened lawsuit before the billboard actually went up.

But seeing how this athletic dept. operates these days...I guess it doesn't surprise me nobody was ahem...paying attention.

They need to specify what the issue is. Being mean isn't illegal and you can't sue over that. The only potential ground would be his picture and I'm not sure where the law would stand on that.

There is absolutely nothing about Legacy of Failure or #FireBoatright that they could take legal action over.

I'm glad Boaty McBoatface is "very upset". I just hope he didn't trip on his own d*ck again on his journey to getting upset. That would be a shame, like all the other times.

Saying "Fire Boatright" is absolutely protected free speech. It is simply a statement of action.

There have been defamation lawsuits over billboards, so I imagine Lamar is going to want to avoid that at all costs, so to speak. I think though you have the perfect content for a blog post on the site. Create a blog post with a screenshot of the billboard and then include WSU's response to Lamar about it in the blog post. Then maybe put a link to the post at the top of the home page of the site with the caption of 'See the billboard that made WSU and Boatright mad' or something along those lines. You could tweet out the blog post and you or others could tweet it out to the local sports people and radio personalities, maybe even some national sports people. If the media picks up on the story, that's a lot of free advertising and gets the word out about what the billboard is trying to accomplish. Basically, use WSU's response to the billboard against them.

Very disappointed but not surprised to share this news.

Wichita State Univ has reached out to Lamar and threatened legal action over the billboards. Mr Boatright is "very upset". I have been informed we will need to change the design to something that doesn't "attack" Boatright to keep the ads running. Not sure where to go from here.

I've been a Shocker fan all my life. Most of my athletic wear has a Shocker logo on it somewhere. I've been proud of it when the hoops program was in the dump and when they were on top of the world. I have never felt this much apathy towards the university as a whole. We pay Boatright's salary as donors and taxpayers. We are the ones who support the program. But when we call coming wanting to draw attention to making a change after our voices fell on deaf ears, this is how they respond. Not a dialogue, not even a direct statement or email to us personally, but straight to legal threats. Never heard of that even with other schools "fire (person)" billboards.

Just quoting this as a follow-up to my post about creating a blog post. You could basically just copy and paste most of the above as the blog post and include a screenshot of the billboard.
