100% looking for someone who can develop him into NBA talent. Would have been a 1 and done under nearly any other coach.

Because of his age, he was always going to have to play two years before going to the NBA. I’m stunned that he doesn’t think that $0.01 can coach him up in his second year. Stunned, I tell you.

Penny’s honeymoon has to be coming to en end. All these NBA promises handed out over the past few year and nothing to show for it, outside of the Wiseman scandal. He’s ruined far more careers than he’s helped.

He needs better assistants. And the AAC needs him to be successful at this point.

SMU gets a good pickup in Ricardo Wright (transfer from Marist). Averaged 13.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, and 1.7 apg last season while shooting 41% from FG and 37% from three.

I was told by someone who is fairly close to Larry Brown that “he hates it right now.”

Memphis is losing a lot of talent with Bates and Harris leaving. Rumor is Minnott and Quinones are likely gone as well. Could be a rough year for Memphis.

If you're not going to go all the way, why go?

We don't need Penny to be successful. We need Memphis to be successful. They can get a legitimate coach in there and have a great program.

And they won’t recruit at the level penny does. How many top 10 players has Penny landed over the years?

Say whatever about his product on the court, but he recruits at the absolute highest level. If he can improve the product on the court, his butt will be firmly planted in the front row with Duke, UK, UNC, and KU. That is the kind of success the AAC needs without Houston and Cincinnati.

How do you suggest he improve the product on the court if he already has the best players? He can’t coach. He can’t keep them happy. Evidently he can’t pay them enough. Memphis has a huge problem and it starts with the head coach. Penny would be a GREAT #2.

Tulane will be replacing Cincinnati as a Top program. Building a very good/deep roster.
