It was on KWCH. I'll try to look for a link later.

I remember that play. Thought it was obvious too.

Now, now. No complaining about obvious officiating deficiencies or you'll be fined 2,500 Shockernet dollars.

Now it's time to capture the opportunities Smart has, which is win big games that seem to matter to the people outside of Wichita, Kansas.
The anchor was mixing things up with the "Reliving the Run" special that aired on TruTV right before the game. In that, Shaka tells the team that FSU wants to punk us, and the team needs to go out and punk them right back or something. As for any bad blood between coaching staff, I have no inside knowledge but between our boards and yours that horse has been beaten to death. If Shaka snubbed GM a bit he spent time talking to Carl Hall and looked very sincere in his interactions with the young man. Cheers, Shocker fans, and see you guys next year. It's always a pleasure playing you guys and you've got a GREAT fan base!

          • Hoosier Looking for tickets in Portland for Saturday

First, I'll admit that the only reason I came to check out Shocker net is because I'm hoping to buy some tickets from any Shocker fans still in Portland with tickets that they now don't want to use. Contact me privately at adam.grimshaw@welchallyn.com today only if you want to set that up.

Next, I'll say that I watched the WSU VCU game yesterday before watching the IU NMSU game. I kept thinking to myself that this would be a tough game to watch if you were a WS fan. I've been there, watching some pretty tough IU losses myself over the years.

The other thought that kept popping in my head was, "What are they thinking with that Mascot?" LOL. I know I won't win any fans on this website with that comment, but at least I'm being honest with you all.

Your boys put up a good fight and fought back to have a chance at the end. You should be proud of an excellent season.

I'll also say that if the Hoosiers don't find a way to break that VCU press, HoosierNation will be looking at a tough loss tomorrow just like you guys did yesterday.

Do you know what shocking wheat is/was? Do you know what a shock of wheat is? If so, you understand our mascot. If not, lack of education is no excuse.

Wow. Well, I guess I have to bow before your superior education.

Shock of wheat or whatever, my opinion of the mascot is the same. You all are also entitled to your own opinions. I have no wish to offend.

                  • Still looking for tickets and an apology to 1972Shocker

This is an open apology to 1972Shocker and anyone else on this board. I am sorry for writing that I don't care for your mascot. I'm not really fond of any mascots for that matter.

I was not trying to offend. Really. Believe if you want to, or not. In hindsight, it wasn't the most sensitive thing to bring up.

The original post was about trying to score some tickets for tomorrows game. I'd like to go back to that. I'd also like to bring up that while I didn't have kind words for the mascot, I still think you all should be proud of your team for what they accomplished this year.

Now, does anyone know of anyone in Portland with Tickets for tomorrow's game that they want to sell?

                    • Apology accepted. I don't think it is that you brought it up, but I think it was more the way your brought it up. No problem.

Have you checked our Ticket Exchange Forum for tikcets? Here is the link:

By no means was I saying anything about the quality of Stutz as a person or as an ambassador for WSU. Neither of those things changes because of how he plays a basketball game, or by graduating. He will hardly not be associated with WSU in the future, and I wish him all the best in whatever he goes on to do. From all accounts he's a tremendous person of integrity and character.

There is very little correlation between character and basketball skills. Plenty of great people are awful players, and plenty of great players are awful human beings. Don't confuse the two. I'm a terrible basketball player and only some people think I'm a terrible person.

I'm glad that Stutz will no longer be playing for the Shockers, not that he can now be banished from the record books and forgotten by all Shocker fans. In my personal opinion, Stutz had the talent and size to be a tremendous basketball player, here and at the next level. I do not believe he ever capitalized on that ... I don't know if that's because things just never clicked for him or because he didn't work hard enough to get it figured out. All I know is that I found it very disappointing to watch him play. He had all of the tools, all of the advantages, had good players getting the ball to him, had four years of college experience, showed the occasional flash of brilliance, but in the end was above average. Good, but never great.

I think he made a tremendous leap from last year to this year in term's of on-court production. And if he had another two or three years of eligibility, he might be able to become a truly dominant college center. I get that he had decent numbers ... he was a regular double-double guy (except in the games that mattered). I just don't give him a lot of credit for scoring 13 points and getting 8 rebounds a game when you're a head taller than everyone you're playing against. Height is very important in basketball, and moreso in the MVC, where Stutz was three inches taller or more over every starter in the league with the exception of MoState's Patterson. I just think he made a lot of stupid fouls and often played soft and a bit lazy.

By no means does that make him a bad person, and I'm glad to have him representing Wichita State as a person. But I personally never enjoyed watching him play. I just kind of always felt bad for him that he wasn't 6'5" and able to go be the guard he always seemed to want to be.

The quote from him is depressing, though, and there is absolutely no way that he is solely responsible for that loss. Every single player had bonehead moves at one point or another that could have been the difference between a win and a loss. I don't think he should lump the blame on himself by any means. Yeah, he had an awful game, but most of our players played pretty bad in this one.

Regardless of whether I like watching him play or not, though, he should be tremendously proud of everything they accomplished here. He'll go down in Shocker history without the slightest doubt, and helped rebuild the program. I'm sure he has a great future outside of basketball awaiting him.

Stutz biggest liability is that he has no athleticism, especially from a standing position. He does have a little bit of athleticism when he has a running start as shown by his dunk a few games ago.

His liability on the defensive end against quick big men gets him in foul trouble limiting his ability to get going on the offensive end.

I think there's a legitimate chance Stutz could take your challenge. I am blown away that anyone is complaining that he stinks. He was first team all valley!
