  • This all falls on the numbnut POS 37%-raising-when/funds-were-drying-up athletic director.
    Deuces Valley.

    • I didn't think anything could kill my enthusiasm for college basketball. But the transfer portal has completely done that.

This is maddening. Our business has thrown money at the school and program for years but when it comes to actually making a difference we aren't given the tools to make it happen. So weak!

        • How is there not a progressive thinker in the athletic department that understands WSU Basketball IS THE SHOW IN TOWN. And we're just gonna sit and neglect NIL strategies? ****ing baffling.

            • Lets be honest IB hasnt exactly instill confidence in coaching anyone up, especially the ones that feel they can reach the next level.

              • Unless something big changes soon, next year's Shocker season looks painfully familiar to far too many KU Football seasons: It's gonna be played whether you like it or not.

yep, I had 2 players left that I was excited to see develop into Shocker stars. Now it's down to one and I'm not sure I even care anymore.

We have plenty of Shady car dealers in Wichita .. just not enough that love WSU basketball apparently.

                      • So it was a big enough deal to keep the team together to throw a ridiculous contract at an unproven coach but when the program is literally imploding there is no effort to address the obvious solution with NIL. This is now the world we live in. We either step up and get in the game or our program is finished. WSU basketball is too important to the city of Wichita to just sit by and let this happen.

                        • This is definitely bad. Not even the sunshine pumpers can make me feel even remotely positive about next year now.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Common theme there ... both of those are the lazy way out. Can't be bothered to have to fire a coach if the contract makes it financially unviable .. and setting up a powerpoint over NIL rules vs a NIL collective is much easier

                            • We have had 4-6 season tickets for 30+ years. With Ricky leaving, IB still here, and almost a whole new team on the floor next year we may choose to spend our $4K a year we have been spending on tickets and SASO, on popcorn and ESPN+ and watch from home. In all my years supporting the Shox, Ricky leaving rivals Dreiling and Mo Evans as huge losses. As you can tell I was a huge fan of RC4.

                              • there's a reason Jay Wright retired. A lot of coaches see the direction this is going and whether their school will be able to compete. Even if we had guys like Ricky set up with a car and $100k salary, there will be another school offer him $250k after a year of development. We will never be able to keep up.
