The main problem that I had with the ISUr game was that Frenchy should have been kicked out of the game in the first half when he hit Garrett in the mouth on purpose. That was a big signal of problems to come and sure enough, he caused more problems in the second half. That incident was beyond the pail in a physical game.

In most instances, when people discuss the game on the radio, they leave this out.

Speaking of local goofballs, they had Dave Phillips on KAKE Overtime Live Sunday evening.
Yikes, now that’s a face made for radio... and one of the most annoying KU fans on the planet.

Now getting way off base.....NOBODY is worse than the Creighton guys. T Scott (who uses initials like that?) is AWFUL. You can't understand what's going on and EVERY 3 point shot is "Threeontheway".....every flipping one. It's so annoying I can't even begin to describe it.

There isn't a vendetta but I think there is a slight bias - maybe it is among the other MVC schools rather than the MVC office.
Think of the Dallas Baptist issue. I also believe there has been some bias as it relates to post-season tournament sites. I am going to research a bit and will post my findings.

We need to stop with this conspiracy **** and just make our team better!! Period. Lets make our team so damn good, that we win 20 straight championships. We havent won in st louis in 25 years? Its not because of a conspiracy, its because we didnt play well enough.

This conspiracy talk is pathetic.
Something makes me think that when the MVC finals are on CBS ... maybe the conference was hoping that the finals would have a RANKED Wichita State team versus a RANKED Creighton team. It seems like that would have been good viewing. That would have meant ratings, eyes on the league, time on SportsCenter, et al. What good did Illinois State losing to Creighton do for the MVC? Seriously? Anything? The only possible benefit is that WSU probably would have beaten Creighton (just being logical; WSU lost the first game because they had their worst offensive performance of the year, so if they had shot that poorly again, they could have lost again), which might have hurt Creighton's seed and ranking. But not by very much. If the goal was to get Illinois State into the NCAA tournament, why didn't the "conspiracy" extend to the finals?
Creighton beating ISU got a quick blurb on ESPN and probably half the viewers the game would have had otherwise. The simple fact is that #14 WSU vs #24 Creighton is a big time game and makes the MVC look like an important, albeit top heavy, conference ... #24 Creighton versus 105 RPI ISU is a "meh" game that no one really paid any attention to.
Whoever mentioned that the referees are instructed to let the game play on to keep things close is right on the money. They did the same thing the day before, when the referees attempted to keep us from getting out to an insurmountable lead against Indiana State. It's just what referees do in college basketball ... when you're up by 10-15, the calls start magically going the way of the weaker team. And maybe Coach Marshall started getting angry about it ... and maybe our poor shooting made him angrier and angrier, and his anger was directed at the referees, and then calls kept going against us even when the game got close out of spite. And maybe the referees in this league just flat out don't like him, after five years of dealing with someone as competitive as him, and their calls just naturally go against us now. At the end of the day, though, it was our terrible, terrible shooting that let the game get out of hand.
Were the referees in that game terrible? Absolutely. Wilkins played 24 minutes in that game and never had one single foul called against him during play. Not one. He received two technical's after play was over, but not one foul during play. Stutz and EO combined to play less minutes than he did and received six fouls and a technical in that time. Wilkins went on to have four fouls against him in the Creighton game, in less time, while playing less physical. Magically the referees were different in that game.
Did the MVC want the game close? Probably. Did they want WSU to lose in the semi-finals? Why would they? Like most conspiracy theories, the logical chasm you have to leap over to get to your conclusion is just staggering.Last edited by Rlh04d; March 6, 2012, 09:06 PM.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

While it seems illogical that a vendetta or conspiracy exists, there does appear to be an ongoing pattern of strange calls at critcal points in key games in the mvc tourney going against WSU. I for one don't buy the idea that it is simply a series of random events detrimental to WSU? It smells pretty bad to me, call me crazy if you like but something is going on. The idea that federal laws are efective in preventing illegal acts is nonesense. Illegal acts are routinely committed by coporate America as well as athletic associations.

For what reason would the MVC prefer Creighton beating a team with an RPI over 100 on CBS over a matchup between a ranked Creighton and a ranked Wichita State, with all of the national attention that would draw? Not to mention the vast, vast difference in ratings between those two games, which could be the difference in CBS carrying the game in the future, or the money earned by the conference from future contracts that would at least be partly based on the ratings of that game.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'
