Anyone catch Jay Sanderson yesterday afternoon on 1410? He was spitting fire basically painting a picture that GM and all of Shocker Nation subscribed to the conspiracy theory. I kind of get the feeling he bleeds crimson & blue and doesn't care much for WSU.

Sanderson claims to be a WSU fan. He is a WSU grad. The big point he made yesterday was that the refs did not cost WSU the game. The several bad passes that led to ISU layups and the bad out of bounds play and poor shooting did. He is a big referee supporter as he claims to be a referee.

I do not believe there is a Vendetta. I do believe that the referees at the tournament are instructed to let the players play to keep games close and I think that in the WSU/ISU game, the way play was allowed did not favor our big men, who frankly are not very mobile with opposing players hanging on them. That left the game up to the guards and free throw shooting and ISU made a better percentage of their free throws. There is a reason that only 3 #1 seeds have won the tournament in the last 10 years. Probably it is because the MVC is a competitive conference.

I believe you're incorrect. I recall him being a WSU grad and often sees things through yellow colored lenses. Maybe he's spending too much time reading Bob Lutz.

Isn't he the same guy who umpired WSU baseball games a few years ago and there were complaints from the Valley that he was a WSU alum? Consequently, he was removed from umpiring Shocker games. It's the $hits getting old and my memory seems to be fading.

I was in STL and wanted to throw in my two cents.

There is no conspiracy. A curse or a hex? Maybe. I bought a stuffed rally squirrel at the Cardinals team store, and it didn't help. Maybe I should have thrown it on the court!

The officiating was bad and inconsistent and did affect the tone of the game, so in that respect referees DO affect outcome of games. It did hurt the Shockers, but that is a part of the game that a team has to overcome. The one call that COULD have changed the end was the missed out of bounds call late in the game, and would be one of those instances where replay COULD be beneficial under strict rules of use. But the best remedy is to not be in that position to begin with, in this case, shoot better from the field.

As far as seating, WSU was treated fine. The basically had WSU on one half and Creighton on the other half of the side behind the benches wrapping around to behind the goals. They put us there because we were the #1 and #2 seed, with the most presold tickets, in the area best seen on TV. The middle section on the side is the corporate section for the MVC, so it was a mix there. I actually bought a ticket in the Indiana State section, which was in the top few rows of what was mainly WSU seating. So that would indicate that WSU and Creighton were getting preferential treatment, its just there were a lot of those fans to accommodate. So, Shocker fans with higher SASO points got the better seating and those with lower or no SASO points got put around to the corner and end. Way of the world nowadays, folks.

Every fanbase has its share of the "woe is us" crowd, it just seems at times the WSU fanbase has more of those, but I doubt it. We're just hearing it a lot right now after a rather crappy loss, which is to be expected.

I heard him. That time slot has turned far more "edgy" of late, I'm sure in an effort to boost ratings. It's kind of interesting actually, and for the most part I've enjoyed it, but he was off base yesterday, imho.

I'm pretty sure he started as a ku student and ended with wsu degree, which I don't think matters when it comes to his sports allegiance. I just thought he came off as a typical shock-jock yesterday daring any wsu fan to come on the air to defend the conspiracy theory. I suppose stirring the pot is what brings home the bacon.
