I went back and looked at history to see what happens to attendance when different coaches are hired
Fogler (-112)
Cohen (-2026)
Scott T (+1024)
Randy S. (+3921)
Turgeon (+721)
Marshall (0)
Isaac B. (covid, -1600 second year)
Data would indicate:
1. Don't expect a big increase in attendance unless it is considered a "homerun" hire by the fans
2. Expect modest Attendance (700-1100) Increase if there is hope generated by the hire
3. The bigger driver in attendance is winning. For every 20% increase in Win%, results in 1,000 tickets sold
4. Decrease in attendance under HCIB is larger than Cohen (-3,151) vs IB (-3,198).
BTW, Attendance average by coach
1. GGG 10,493
2. Gene Smithson 9,996
3. Turgeon 9,433
4. Fogler 9,264
5. Rand S. 7,973
6. IB 7,916
7. Cohen 7,549
8. Scott T 6,566
Gene Smithson is only partial since my data stops at 1980.
